This is the full package for anyone building or upgrading an AR-15 and tired of hunting down separate stock and buffer tube parts. ATI bundles their TactLite GEN2 stock with a genuine mil-spec buffer tube, so you get a matched fit right out of the box instead of guessing whether your stock and tube are actually going to play nice together.
The stock itself runs on ATI's TracLOCK GEN2 system, which is really just a well-engineered way of keeping the stock from sliding or rattling around on the tube once it's set. One lever locks everything down firm across all six positions, so you're not fumbling with a secondary detent or extra hardware to keep it snug. The body is built from DuPont extreme-temperature glass reinforced polymer, which shrugs off heat, cold, and rough handling without getting brittle. At barely over 6 ounces, it's not going to add noticeable weight to your build, and the low profile design keeps clear of the charging handle so nothing gets in your way when you're running the gun.
Unlike stock-only options, this kit includes a mil-spec diameter buffer tube machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and finished in Type III hard anodizing, which is the same coating process used on military hardware for corrosion and wear resistance. ATI throws in the steel E-coated castle nut and locking ring, plus a carbine buffer and buffer spring, so everything needed to mount this stock on a stripped lower is in the box. That's a real time saver if you're finishing out a build and don't want to make three separate purchases just to get a stock installed correctly.
The stock ships with ATI's thin X Series butt-pad, which is non-slip and removable if you decide you want a thicker recoil-reducing pad down the road (ATI sells X1 and X2 versions separately for that). Dual-sided QD attachment points and a slot for a traditional sling mean you're covered no matter what kind of sling setup you run. Length of pull adjusts from roughly 13 1/8 inches out to 16 5/8 inches across the six positions, which covers most body types and works whether you're shooting in a t-shirt or bundled up with a plate carrier on.
This kit includes the stock, the mil-spec 6061-T6 aluminum buffer tube, castle nut, locking ring, buffer, and buffer spring. That covers everything on the lower side except tools, so you're not stuck ordering separate pieces to get it mounted.
It's built to mil-spec diameter, so it fits mil-spec AR-15 lowers, which cover the vast majority of AR-15 builds and factory rifles out there. If your lower uses a commercial spec tube instead, you'll want to check that before ordering since mil-spec and commercial tubes aren't interchangeable.
The stock body itself comes in right around 6.1 ounces, which is noticeably lighter than a lot of competing stocks. The glass reinforced polymer construction combined with the TracLOCK GEN2 locking lever keeps it from feeling hollow or rattly once it's mounted and locked into position.
Yes, the X Series thin pad that comes on this stock is removable, and ATI sells thicker X1 and X2 recoil reducing pads separately if you want more cushion or a slightly longer length of pull down the line. It's a simple swap that doesn't require replacing the whole stock.
