The GSG-16 is one of those guns that just puts a smile on your face. German Sport Guns built it on the bones of their proven GSG-522 rimfire platform, then gave it a full redesign to bring it up to speed for modern shooters. The result is a blowback-operated semi-auto carbine with strong MP5-inspired styling, a fully polymer receiver that keeps weight under 6 pounds, and enough rail space to build it out however you like.
The M-LOK handguard comes pre-fitted with Picatinny rails along the top and forend, so mounting a red dot, light, or vertical grip is straightforward without any additional hardware. The four-position collapsible stock collapses the overall length down to 28.5 inches for storage or transport and extends out to 34.25 inches when fully deployed. That same stock has a built-in magazine storage compartment in the buttplate, which is a small but genuinely useful feature at the range. The ambidextrous charging handle and oversized ambidextrous safety selector make the controls easy to work with gloves on or for left-handed shooters.
The quick-acquisition front and rear sights are redesigned compared to earlier GSG models, with a hooded post up front and a drift-adjustable peep in the rear. They're clean and simple, and get you on target fast. The faux suppressor is a removable aluminum barrel shroud that covers the pencil-profile stainless steel barrel, giving the rifle that iconic look while also protecting the muzzle end. The stock adjusts to four positions using a lever-release mechanism, bringing overall length from 28.5 inches collapsed down to a handy and compact carry size, or stretching out to 34.25 inches fully extended for a 14.5-inch length of pull. The buttplate of the stock also includes a built-in compartment that holds a spare magazine, which is a thoughtful feature for keeping a reload close at hand without needing a separate pouch or carrier.

Like any semi-auto .22, keeping it clean and properly lubricated is the best way to maintain reliable performance.
