The ATI Cavalry SX delivers that experience without the four figure price tag that usually comes with it. Built by KOFS in Turkey and imported by American Tactical, this 12 gauge pairs a laser engraved silver receiver with blued 28 inch barrels and a genuine oil-finished Turkish walnut stock and forend. It looks the part in the field or at the club, and the checkering on the wood gives you a solid grip when the weather turns damp.
The receiver is machined from lightweight 7075 aluminum, which keeps the overall weight manageable for long walks behind a dog while the 4140 chrome moly steel barrels handle the abuse of a full season. Those barrels are chrome plated inside and out, so cleanup after a wet hunt is quick and corrosion stays at bay. The 3 inch chambers give you room to run everything from light target loads to heavier field ammo, and the vent rib with brass bead front sight keeps your eye tracking naturally on crossing birds.
You get five interchangeable choke tubes in the box, Cylinder through Full, threaded in the popular Beretta/Benelli Mobil pattern. That means aftermarket tubes are easy to find if you want to fine tune your patterns down the road. The single selective trigger lets you pick which barrel fires first, handy when you want an open choke for the flush and a tighter one for the follow up. This model runs extractors rather than ejectors, which lifts fired hulls for easy removal by hand. A lot of clays folks and reloaders prefer it that way since your empties never end up in the grass.
With a 14.23 inch length of pull and traditional field stock dimensions, the Cavalry SX fits most adult shooters right out of the box. It is a smart choice for a first over/under, a loaner gun for the duck camp, or just a good looking double that earns its keep on dove fields and skeet ranges alike.
This model (ATIGKOF12SV) uses extractors, which lift fired shells partway out of the chamber so you can pull them by hand. ATI also makes an SVE version with automatic ejectors if you want spent hulls tossed clear. Many target shooters and reloaders prefer extractors since empties stay with the gun instead of landing on the ground.
The 12 gauge Cavalry SX is threaded for the Beretta/Benelli Mobil choke system, one of the most common patterns out there. It ships with five tubes covering Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified, and Full. If you want extended or specialty tubes later, aftermarket Mobil-pattern chokes are widely available.
Yes, the 12 gauge Cavalry SX is chambered for 3 inch shells, so it handles both standard 2-3/4 inch loads and 3 inch magnums. That gives you the flexibility to run light target loads at the range and step up to heavier field loads for pheasant or waterfowl work with the right shot type.
The Cavalry SX is manufactured by KOFS in Turkey and imported by American Tactical. Thanks to its 7075 aluminum receiver, it comes in noticeably lighter than most steel-framed doubles, running roughly 6 to 7 pounds depending on wood density.
