Athlon Neos G2 HD 8×42 Binoculars – Waterproof Roof Prism

Description

The Athlon Neos G2 HD 8×42 has quietly earned a reputation as one of the better values in entry-level glass, and it's easy to see why once you get behind it. This is a mid-size 8×42 roof prism built for people who actually spend time outside, whether that's chasing whitetails, following warblers through the canopy, or just scanning a ridgeline on a long hike. The 8x magnification hits that sweet spot of reach and stability, so you get plenty of detail without every heartbeat shaking the image.

What makes these punch above their price is the optical package. Fully multi-coated lenses and HD glass cut down glare and boost light transmission, which pays off in those early morning and last-light windows when game and birds are most active. The BaK-4 prisms deliver a clean, round exit pupil with sharp, edge-to-edge clarity, so you're not fighting a fuzzy or dark ring around the view.

Where the Neos G2 8×42 Earns Its Keep

A 367-foot field of view at 1,000 yards gives you room to pick up movement fast and stay on a bird in flight, and the 13.1-foot close focus is close enough for butterflies and backyard detail. The long 17.9mm of eye relief is a real plus if you wear glasses, letting you take in the whole picture without pressing in. Twist-up eyecups with intermediate stops make it easy to dial in the right position for your eyes.

Built to Take a Beating

The composite chassis is O-ring sealed and nitrogen purged, which means these are fully waterproof and won't fog up when the temperature swings on you. Rubber armor wraps the body for grip in wet or gloved hands and adds a little protection against the bumps that come with real field use. At right around 21 ounces, they hang comfortably on a strap all day. Athlon backs the Neos G2 with a lifetime transferable warranty, so if something goes wrong down the road, they'll repair or replace them.
