ARCA rails have taken over precision rifle for good reason, but anyone who has leaned into a barricade stop knows the old friction-only dovetails can creep under load. Area 419 built the ARCALOCK system to fix exactly that. The sides of this 12 inch rail are serrated so they interface with Area 419's proprietary clamp and mechanically lock in place, meaning nothing slides once you cinch it down. The serrations are smooth enough that they will not chew up your bags or your hands.
This is a full 12 inch dovetail giving you the entire length of the forend to work with, whether you are running a bipod up front and a bag rider toward the rear or stacking accessories for a match setup. It is cut to the RRS 1.5 inch dovetail standard, so standard lever clamps and ARCA gear will still drop right on. The catch worth knowing is that the mechanical locking only happens with an Area 419 clamp. Run it with a standard ARCA clamp and it works fine, it just holds by friction like any other rail.
Machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and finished with a Type 3 hard coat anodize in Flat Dark Earth, this rail is made in house in the USA on American CNC machines from USA sourced aluminum. Every corner is radiused and every edge chamfered right on the machine, which takes longer but leaves you with no sharp edges anywhere. Folks who work with precision parts for a living tend to notice the fit and finish here, and it earns its keep on chassis rifles like the MDT XRS and similar builds.
A nice bonus is the row of M-LOK slots on the underside, so you can hang M-LOK accessories directly off the rail. Just note this one needs 6 consecutive M-LOK slots on your forend to mount up, and the rear angled barricade stop is a separate purchase.
The mechanical locking only engages when you pair the rail with Area 419's proprietary clamp, which grips the serrated sides so nothing moves. It is still backwards compatible with standard ARCA accessories and lever clamps built to the RRS 1.5 inch dovetail standard, but with those it holds by friction rather than locking. If you want the full no-slip benefit, plan on running the matching 419 clamp.
This rail attaches directly to M-LOK and requires 6 consecutive M-LOK slots on your forend or chassis. If your stock has fewer slots than that, a 12 inch universal rail with M-LOK attachment nuts is the better route. It ships with the M-LOK hardware needed to bolt it on.
No, the rear angled barricade stop is sold separately. This listing is for the 12 inch dovetail rail and its M-LOK mounting hardware. The good news is the ARCALOCK design is exactly what keeps a barricade stop from creeping under pressure once you add one.
They will not. The serrations that let the rail lock into the 419 clamp are smooth to the touch, so they will not tear up your shooting bags or scrape your hands during a match. Every edge is also chamfered and every corner radiused right on the machine.
