The Area 419 ARCALOCK Rail takes the standard Arca dovetail and gives it teeth. Most Arca rails rely on friction alone to hold accessories, which works fine until you load up against a barricade stop and watch it creep. This rail solves that with serrated sides that interface with Area 419's proprietary clamp to mechanically lock in place, so there's no movement at all once it's set. The serrations are smartly done too. They grip the clamp without being sharp, so they won't chew up your bags or your hands.
This is cut specifically for current-production MK22 and MRAD rifles running the M-LOK forend. If your rifle has the older round-hole handguard, this one won't fit, so double check before ordering. The rail runs the full length of the new Barrett forend and stops clean right at the end of the handguard, giving you maximum real estate for a bipod, tripod head, or barricade stop. It's designed to attach at up to four points for real strength and a rock-solid feel with no flex.
One thing worth knowing up front: the locking feature only works with an Area 419 clamp. Run it with any other Arca gear and it behaves like a standard dovetail, since it's fully backwards compatible with the wider Arca ecosystem. It's also machined to the RRS 1.5-inch dovetail standard, so lever clamps and other quality Arca accessories seat properly. You get the flexibility of Arca with the option to truly lock things down when you want it.
Area 419 didn't cut corners here, literally. Every corner is radiused and every edge is chamfered on the machine, which takes longer to produce but leaves you with a rail that has no sharp edges anywhere. It's finished in Type 3 hard coat anodizing in FDE for durability that holds up to real field use. This rail is cut only for current-production MK22 and MRAD rifles that use the M-LOK forend. The older handguards with round mounting holes are not compatible. If you're unsure which version you have, check whether your forend uses M-LOK slots or circular holes before ordering.
The mechanical locking only happens when you use it with an Area 419 clamp, which grips the serrated sides so nothing can shift. With any other Arca gear it works as a standard dovetail. No, the barricade stop is sold separately. The rail does come with the M-LOK hardware needed to mount it to your MRAD or MK22 forend. If you plan to run a barricade stop, that's where the ARCALOCK design really shines, since it keeps the stop from sliding under pressure.
