The firing pin is one of those small parts nobody thinks about until it lets them down. In a .308 AR the pin takes a serious beating, and factory steel or titanium pins are known to crack or wear at the tip over a high round count. This Wilson Combat Bullet Proof firing pin is built to outlast that abuse, machined from S-7 tool steel that resists breakage and tip erosion better than the stuff you'll find in most stock bolt carrier groups.
S-7 is a shock-resistant tool steel, which is exactly what you want in a part that slams forward thousands of times. Wilson finishes the pin in hard chrome, so it fights corrosion and wipes clean without much effort during routine maintenance. It keeps standard dimensions too, so you're not giving up ignition reliability to get the extra toughness. This is the same pin Wilson uses as a replacement for their AR-10 low mass bolt carrier group, which tells you where it sits on the quality scale.
This is a drop-in part for Mil-Spec DPMS and SR-25 pattern bolts, which covers a big chunk of the .308 AR market. It also plays nice with other calibers running a .308 bolt assembly, so it's a flexible upgrade for larger-frame builds. Worth noting up front: it is not made for the Armalite AR-10, which uses its own bolt dimensions. If you're running a proprietary or non-standard bolt, measure your existing pin before ordering since a few builders have reported needing minor fitting on oddball bolts.
