The Wilson Combat AR .308 Ambidextrous Charging Handle is a drop-in upgrade for AR-10, LR-308, and SR-25 pattern rifles that want to shed the wobble and weak points of a standard mil-spec handle. Wilson developed the Bullet Proof line with input from military, law enforcement, and competition shooters, and it shows in how the thing runs. You can charge the rifle from either side in one smooth pull without having to shift your firing hand, which is a real difference maker when you're behind glass or working a support-side position.

What Makes the Bullet Proof .308 Handle Different

This one is machined from solid billet 7075 aircraft-grade aluminum and finished with a Mil-Spec Type III hard anodize, so it holds up to hard use and shrugs off corrosion. The redesigned body eliminates the flex and cracking points that plague cheaper aftermarket handles. Wilson uses an oversized latch spring and piston assembly that pulls the latches closed under heavy recoil, so nothing pops open on you mid-string, even on full-auto or a hot suppressed gun.

Choosing the Large Latch

The Bullet Proof handle comes in three latch sizes, and this is the Large. The bigger latch gives you the most surface to grab, which pays off with gloves on or in cold weather when fine motor control goes out the window. If you run a chest rig, plates, or shoot in the elements, the large latch is the easy call. Smaller latches sit tighter to the receiver if you prefer a lower profile, so it comes down to how you shoot.

Fitment and Suppressor Use

It fits AR-10, DPMS, SR-25, and WC10 pattern rifles that accept a standard .308 charging handle, and works with both forged and billet uppers. There's an extended upper shelf that deflects gas away from your face, which is a nice touch on suppressed builds where blowback can sting. Worth double-checking your BCG gas key clearance before install, since a few proprietary uppers run tighter tolerances than the standard pattern.
