This 11.5 inch black model comes fully assembled with the barrel, bolt carrier group, charging handle, and rail already installed, so there's no parts chasing or headspacing to worry about before it goes on your lower.
The heart of this upper is an 11.5 inch cold hammer forged, chrome lined barrel with a 1:7 twist, finished in Manganese Phosphate and topped with a Nanoweapon coated HUXWRX Flash Hider-QD. Geissele builds these barrels in house at their North Wales, PA facility, and the CHF process combined with the chrome lining gives you a barrel that holds up to sustained use without losing accuracy. The carbine length gas system runs through Geissele's Super Compact Gas Block, installed using their bombproof method so the block stays locked in place on the barrel instead of working loose over time.
Running the action is Geissele's Reliability Enhanced Bolt Carrier Group, a full mass, full auto rated carrier machined from 8620 steel with a Carpenter 158+ forged bolt that's rated for roughly five times the service life of a standard mil-spec bolt. Every bolt gets high pressure tested and magnetic particle inspected before it's coated in Nanoweapon, Geissele's exclusive chrome nitride finish that keeps things running smoother and cleaner between cleanings. Charging is handled by the Geissele Airborne Charging Handle, an ambidextrous design with a raised gas deflection fence that keeps blowback out of your face, especially useful on a barrel this short.
Up top you'll find a 10.5 inch Super Modular Rail MK16 in M-LOK, a variant of the rail fielded by USASOC that mates to the upper through a center aligning tab so there's zero chance of rail rotation once it's torqued down. The flat top receiver runs standard Picatinny for optics mounting, and since this is built to mil-spec dimensions it drops onto any compatible AR-15 lower without modification.
