Description
The Odin Works XMR2 is the Gen II take on their wildly popular extended mag release, and it fixes the one thing folks kept asking about: BAD lever compatibility. The original XMR was a hit, but plenty of AR owners running a Magpul Battery Assist Device wanted a version that would clear it. Odin went back to the drawing board and came up with this. It's machined from billet 6061 aluminum, wears Odin's signature boomerang cuts for grip, and comes anodized in a sharp red that pops against a black lower.
What Makes the XMR2 Worth the Swap
The whole point here is a bigger target. The paddle is noticeably larger than a standard mil-spec button, which means you can hit it cleanly no matter the size of your hands or how you're gripping the rifle. Those boomerang cuts aren't just for looks either. They give your finger something to bite into so it doesn't slip off when you're dumping a mag in a hurry. The contoured face is shaped for a positive press every time, and you can drop a magazine without shifting your hand off the grip.
Fitment and Setup on Your AR
This one works with both AR-15 and AR-10 style lower receivers, so it's a solid pick whether you're building a 5.56 carbine or a larger frame rifle. Installation is a quick job that most people knock out in just a few minutes with basic tools, swapping it in place of your factory release. It's also fully compatible with the Magpul BAD lever, which was the entire reason the Gen II exists. One thing worth knowing before you order: the XMR2 is designed for standard pins and won't drop right in with anti-walk pins unless you modify it. If you're running anti-walk or KNS-style pins, the newer XMR3 is the version built for that.
At roughly a tenth of an ounce for the whole kit including the paddle, button, and screws, you're not adding any real weight to the rifle. It's a small upgrade that makes a genuine difference every time you reload, and it's backed by Odin's lifetime warranty on the part.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Odin Works XMR2 work with the Magpul BAD lever?
Yes, and that was the whole reason Odin built the Gen II. The original XMR didn't clear the BAD lever, so this version was redesigned specifically to run alongside it. You can also use the XMR2 without a BAD lever and it works just fine on its own.
Will the XMR2 fit my AR-10 or just an AR-15?
It fits both. The XMR2 is designed for AR-15 and AR-10 style lower receivers, so it's a good match whether you're running a 5.56 carbine or a larger .308-class rifle. It swaps in place of your standard factory magazine release.
Can I use this extended mag release with anti-walk pins?
Not without modifying it. The XMR2 is built around standard trigger and hammer pins and won't clear anti-walk or KNS-type pins as-is. If you're running those pins, look at the Odin Works XMR3, which was designed for that setup.
How hard is the XMR2 to install?
It's an easy job. Most people have it swapped in within a few minutes using basic tools, replacing the factory mag catch button and paddle. No gunsmithing or permanent changes to your lower are needed for a standard build.
