A trigger guard is one of those parts nobody thinks about until it's rubbing wrong or too tight to use with a glove on. Forward Controls Design, the same crew known for building no-nonsense AR controls with an ergonomics-first mindset, designed the TGF Winter to solve that exact problem without changing how your rifle feels or functions everywhere else.
Unlike a standard trigger guard that tapers down as it nears the receiver, the winter version keeps a wide, constant space running from the trigger forward. That extra real estate is where you actually need it, since the area behind the trigger bow is too tight for your finger to reach anyway. All the sharp edges and corners have been knocked down and rounded over, so there's nothing digging into your knuckle on a long range day, gloved or not. A canted front edge also does double duty as a subtle magazine guide, making it easier to rock mags home during reloads.
This guard is built to TDP spec, meaning it's sized for forged lower receivers and drops into the gap forward of the pistol grip between the factory trigger guard ears. It's a fixed guard rather than a swing-down design, held in place with a standard rear roll pin and a front set screw that sits flush with the receiver so nothing snags or protrudes. You'll need a 1/16 inch Allen wrench for that front screw, which isn't included, but the roll pin and set screw both ship with the guard.
Machined from 7075 aluminum and finished in a tough black hardcoat anodizing, this one is built to hold up to years of range trips, duty use, or cold weather hunts where a bulky glove shouldn't mean fighting your own rifle.
The Winter version keeps the space in front of the trigger wide and constant instead of tapering down as it gets closer to the receiver. That extra room is specifically there to make room for thicker gloves without changing anything about how the trigger itself feels.
It's built to TDP spec, so it's designed to fit forged lower receivers that follow those standard dimensions. Because forging tolerances can vary a bit between manufacturers, most builders get a close to flush fit, though very slight fitting may occasionally be needed depending on your specific receiver.
You'll need a 1/16 inch Allen wrench for the front set screw, which is not included with the guard. The rear still uses a standard roll pin like your factory trigger guard, so if you've swapped one before this installs the same way.
Not at all. The rounded edges and wider front opening make it more comfortable for bare hands too, and the canted front edge helps guide magazines into the well a little easier during reloads regardless of what you've got on your hands.
