Description
The AmeriGlo Trooper set takes the design AmeriGlo built for their federal government duty contract and puts it on your Glock. It runs a classic three-dot layout, but the front sight is where it earns its keep: a ProGlo front pairs a green tritium lamp with a painted LumiGreen outline ring, so your eye snaps right to it in daylight and it keeps glowing after dark. The rear is a black serrated square-notch with its own green tritium, and those serrations knock down glare so the front dot is the thing your eye locks onto.
What Makes the Trooper Front Sight Work
That LumiGreen ring is a photoluminescent paint, so it charges up under light and keeps glowing bright for around ten minutes after exposure. Stack that on top of the tritium, and you get a front sight that reads well in three different situations: bright sun, dim rooms, and pitch black. Green is the color the human eye picks up fastest, which is a big reason this setup gets used by law enforcement, military, and everyday carry folks who want one sight picture that does it all.
Fit and Build on the AmeriGlo Trooper Set
The sights are machined from steel with a matte finish, and the tritium lamps are Swiss made. This GL-819 set covers a wide swath of the Glock lineup, fitting Gen 1 through 4 models like the 17, 19, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 33, 34, 35, 37, 38, and 39, and it works with MOS slides too. It does not fit the slimline 42, 43, 43X, or 48.
Getting the AmeriGlo Trooper Dialed In
Installation is standard Glock sight work: the front threads on from underneath and the rear presses into the dovetail, so a sight pusher and a nut driver make quick work of it. Tritium runs on radioactive decay rather than batteries, so there is nothing to charge or switch on. Expect a solid decade or more of strong glow before the tritium dims enough to think about a replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Glock models does the Trooper GL-819 set fit?
This set covers a wide range of Gen 1 through 4 Glocks, including the 17, 19, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 33, 34, 35, 37, 38, and 39, and it works on MOS slides as well. It does not fit the slimline models like the 42, 43, 43X, or 48, so double-check your frame before ordering. If you carry a full-size or compact Glock, odds are good this set drops right in.
How long will the tritium in the Trooper sights stay bright?
Tritium has a half-life of around 12 years, and green is the longest-lasting and most eye-catching color available. In practice you can count on roughly ten to twelve years of strong glow before the dots dim enough that you'd want to replace them. Since it runs on radioactive decay, there are no batteries to swap and nothing to charge.
What's the difference between the tritium and the LumiGreen outline on the front sight?
The tritium is a sealed lamp that glows on its own in total darkness, day in and day out. The LumiGreen outline is a photoluminescent paint ring around the front dot that charges under light and stays bright for about ten minutes after exposure. Together they give you a front sight that pops in bright daylight, dim rooms, and full dark.
Can I install the AmeriGlo Trooper sights myself?
Yes, though it goes a lot smoother with the right tools. The front sight threads on from under the slide with a hex nut, and the rear presses into the dovetail, so a sight pusher tool and a front sight nut driver make it a straightforward job. If you don't have a pusher handy, most gun shops will install them for a small bench fee.
