Plenty of people do, but you'll want the right tools to do it cleanly. A Glock front sight hex tool handles the front screw, and a sight pusher is the safe way to seat the rear in its dovetail without scratching the slide or damaging the tritium vial. If you don't own those, a gunsmith can install the set quickly.
That's by design. The plain black serrated rear removes distractions so your eye goes straight to the glowing orange front dot, which speeds up target acquisition. It's a proven approach for defensive shooting where front sight focus matters most.
