Double stack 1911s are everywhere right now, and the AF1911 Romulus is one of the more compelling ways to get into the platform. Alpha Foxtrot spent years as an OEM manufacturer building parts for other brands before putting their own name on a pistol, and it shows. This is a hammer fired, single action 9mm built in the USA with a frame and slide machined from SUS416 stainless steel, then dressed in a polished black DLC finish that resists wear and looks sharp doing it. Stuff the 20 round double stack magazine in and you have more than double the capacity of a traditional 1911 without giving up that trigger and grip angle people have loved for over a century.
The 5 inch ported bull barrel is the headline feature here. Those ports vent gas upward to fight muzzle rise, and paired with the weight of an all steel frame, the sights barely move under recoil. The barrel itself is an ultra match 416R unit, button rifled with a 1:10 right hand twist, so accuracy holds up when you stretch the distance. The trigger breaks crisp in the 3.5 to 4 pound range with a short, positive reset, which is exactly what you want from this style of gun.
Night Fision sights come standard, and the serrated slide is optic ready with adapter plates covering both RMSC and RMR footprints, so most popular red dots bolt right on. You also get an extended beavertail, ambidextrous thumb safety, extended slide release, and a flared magwell that makes reloads quick and forgiving. The textured polymer grip module fills the hand nicely, and a Picatinny rail up front handles a light or laser. It ships with a 17 round and a 20 round magazine, and it runs common 2011 pattern mags, so spares are easy to find. This version ships with adapter plates covering both the RMSC and RMR footprints, which covers the majority of popular pistol optics. That means compact dots like the Holosun 507K or Shield RMSc pattern optics work, as well as full size RMR pattern sights like the Trijicon RMR and Holosun 507C. Just remove the cover plate, install the correct adapter, and mount your optic.
Yes. It comes with a 17 round and a 20 round double stack magazine, and it accepts common 2011 style magazines like those used in STI and Staccato pistols. That makes finding spare mags simple and keeps you from being locked into a proprietary design.
The ports near the muzzle vent gas upward as the round exits, which pushes the barrel down and counters muzzle flip. Combined with the weight of the stainless steel frame, the result is a very flat shooting pistol where the dot or sights settle back on target quickly.
