The Allen Company BakTrak Traverse Sling is built around one simple idea: a sling that stays put. That comes down to the BakTrak traction pad, a rubberized backing with a wide silicone gripping tread that digs into your shoulder and keeps the rifle from sliding around when you're hiking uneven ground or picking your way through timber. It's a gray, no-nonsense sling that carries a rifle or shotgun without fuss.
The traction pad is the headline here, but the shoulder pad backs it up. It's breathable and padded, so weight gets spread out instead of biting into one spot over a long day. The webbing runs 1.25 inches wide, which is the sweet spot for balancing support and low bulk. Everything is polymer-based construction that shrugs off weather and hard field use without adding heft.
The Traverse is fully adjustable and stretches roughly 22 to 37 inches, so you can dial it in for a slung-across-the-back carry or snug it up tight. It comes with integrated sling swivels rated at 500-plus pounds, meaning attachment and detachment are quick and the hardware won't be the weak link. Between the adjustment range and the included swivels, it drops onto most standard rifles and shotguns with swivel studs and is ready to go.
For hunters logging serious miles or anyone who wants their long gun to sit still on the shoulder instead of creeping down the arm, this is a practical, comfortable pick that punches above its weight class.
Yes, it ships with integrated sling swivels rated at 500-plus pounds. They make attaching and detaching from your rifle or shotgun quick, and the rating gives you plenty of margin for a loaded long gun. You'll want standard swivel studs on your firearm to mount them.
That's the BakTrak part. The pad has a rubberized backing with a wide silicone gripping tread pattern that grabs onto your shoulder or jacket and resists sliding. It makes a real difference when you're moving through brush or up and down hills.
It's fully adjustable and runs from about 22 inches up to 37 inches. That range covers a tight, snug carry all the way to a longer setup for slinging across your back with layers on. The 1.25-inch webbing keeps it comfortable across that whole range.
It will, as long as your shotgun has swivel studs to accept the included swivels. The Traverse is designed to carry either a rifle or a shotgun and keeps the gun within easy reach and ready to go. The traction pad and padded shoulder help just as much with a heavier scattergun.
