Anybody who has hiked a ridge with a rifle over one shoulder knows the frustration of a sling that keeps sliding off. The Allen BakTrak Traverse Sling in Gray/Black is built to fix exactly that. Its standout feature is the BakTrak traction pad, a rubberized backing that ergonomically grips your shoulder so the sling stays put while you move, climb, or glass a hillside. Pair that grip with a lightweight, breathable shoulder section and you get a sling that carries comfortably even after a full day on foot.
Allen didn't reinvent the sling here, they just dialed in the parts that matter. The 1.25-inch webbing is stout enough for reliable everyday carry, and the swivels are rated for well over 500 pounds, so there's plenty of margin whether you're toting a lightweight rimfire or a heavy bolt-action topped with glass. The proprietary construction is meant to balance strength, weight, and comfort rather than lean too hard on any one of them.
Length is fully adjustable from roughly 22 to 37 inches, which covers just about any shooter and carry style. Want it snug and high for a steep pack-in, or long and loose for a slung-over-the-back walk to the stand? A quick pull on the buckle handles it, no tools and no fuss. The integrated swivels snap on and off easily, so moving the sling between guns is painless.
The Gray/Black color scheme keeps things low-key and pairs well with synthetic stocks, camo patterns, or a plain blued hunting rifle. Between the grippy traction pad, cushioned shoulder, and gun-friendly swivels, the Traverse is a practical pick for hunters and range regulars who want their rifle to stay right where they put it.
Yes, this sling includes integrated swivels rated for over 500 pounds, so you can mount it right out of the package. They attach and detach easily if you want to move the sling between rifles. Standard 1.25-inch sling studs are what you'll be working with.
It adjusts from roughly 22 to 37 inches using the buckle, no tools required. That range covers most body sizes and carry preferences, from a tight tactical hold to a relaxed over-the-shoulder walk. You can change the length on the fly out in the field.
The BakTrak pad is a rubberized backing that grips your shoulder instead of sliding around. It keeps the sling planted while you hike, climb, or shift positions, which is a big help on uneven ground. Combined with the breathable padding, it makes long carries a lot more comfortable.
Yes, as long as your shotgun is set up with standard 1.25-inch swivel studs, the Traverse will fit right up. It's a common carry choice for both rifles and shotguns. The heavy-rated swivels give you plenty of confidence with a loaded long gun.
