The Midwest Industries QD Mount (MI-QDAPM) is a direct upgrade for anyone running an Aimpoint PRO or CompM4 who's tired of the big factory knob hanging off the side of the rail. It swaps right in as a replacement for that bulky QRP base and gives you a cleaner, lower setup without changing your sight picture. Installation is about as painless as it gets: pull the two screws holding the factory base and spacer, drop in the MI mount, and you're set. You don't even have to pull the Aimpoint out of the ring to do it.
The heart of this thing is the patented QD lever by Elite Defense, which is one of the smoothest-functioning levers you'll find on a red dot mount. The multi-faceted adjustment nut lets you dial in exactly the tension you want by hand, with no tools required. That means you can fit it snug to rails that aren't machined to perfect mil-spec tolerances, and the clamping is designed so it won't coin or chew up your rail surface. It's precision machined for optimum return to zero, so you can pull your optic for storage or transport and trust it'll hit close to where it was zeroed when it goes back on.
The whole mount is machined from hard coat anodized 6061 aluminum, so it shrugs off abuse and holds up for the long haul. At just 1.9 ounces it adds almost nothing to your rifle's weight, which is a nice bonus if you're trying to keep a build trim. It's 100% made in the U.S.A. and backed by the Midwest Industries lifetime warranty, which tells you how they feel about it holding up.
If you want to run a magnifier or night vision behind your dot, Midwest also makes a separate cantilever riser that pushes the optic forward, but the standard mount here co-witnesses nicely on its own for most AR setups.
This mount is built specifically for the Aimpoint PRO and the Aimpoint CompM4. It serves as a direct replacement for the factory QRP base, so you remove the two screws on the original mount, pull the base and spacer, and drop this one in without taking the optic out of its ring.
