Marble Arms has been making iron sights in Gladstone, Michigan since the turn of the last century, and this .500" barrel mounted 50-W front sight carries that same reputation. It uses a 3/32" white polymer bead that stands out against dark game and shady timber, machined from solid steel and finished to match the look of a traditional lever gun or classic bolt rifle. The blade has that signature Marble contour that slopes forward, giving you a clean sight picture without a lot of visual clutter.
The key thing to know is the base. Unlike a ramp-style sight, this barrel mounted version has rounded base sides made for guns where the front sight dovetail is cut directly into the barrel itself. The 50-W measures 17/32" wide at the base, which is the wider "W" pattern Marble uses for barrel and ramp mounting. Height comes in at .500" measured from the top of the bead down to the bottom of the dovetail, so you know exactly what you're working with when you're matching front and rear.
Sight height is everything with open sights, and it pays to measure before you buy. If your rifle is shooting high with the rear adjusted all the way down, you generally need a taller front sight, and if it's shooting low you go shorter. Marble publishes a height chart that walks you through figuring the correction based on your sighting radius and point of impact. Getting this dialed in on paper first saves you the headache of swapping sights twice.
