It's built for rifles that already have a ramp base up front, with a straight-sided .340" wide base that slides into place instead of the wide dovetail found on barrel-mounted styles. The 1/16" gold bead sits at .450" overall height measured from the bottom of the dovetail to the top of the bead, and it's a common go-to when your rear sight has run out of downward travel and you need to raise the front to get zeroed.
The gold bead is the star here. It pulls your eye to the front sight quickly, especially in low light or against darker targets, which makes it a favorite on lever guns, older Winchesters, Marlins, converted Mausers, and plenty of hunting rifles.
