The jag is designed to pair with standard rifle cleaning rods and works especially well with Bore Tech's Proof Positive Bore Stix rods, which feature a complementary design for smooth transitions at the crown.
While the jag itself won't damage your barrel due to its soft alloy composition and smooth design, using a quality bore guide is recommended for any serious rifle cleaning. A bore guide centers the rod and jag in the bore, preventing unnecessary stress and ensuring the most accurate cleaning results.
Bore Tech calibrates jag lengths specifically for proper patch sizing for each caliber. For the 30 caliber Proof Positive Jag, standard 2-inch square patches or comparable round patches will work. If patches are too tight and jamming, try adjusting the patch thickness or piercing position rather than using an undersized jag.
