Description
The Spikes Tactical 12" Havoc is one of the better-built 37mm launchers you'll find for hanging under an AR-15 handguard. Instead of the stamped-and-welded guts you see on cheaper units, every part here is CAD designed and CNC machined from solid billet material, then finished for the long haul. The aluminum pieces are 6061 and 7075 aircraft grade with a Type III Hardcoat black anodized coating, while the steel components are 1018 cold rolled and plated in a Mil-spec black oxide finish. That mix of materials is what gives this thing its solid, no-rattle feel when you have it mounted up.
How the 12" Havoc Loads and Locks
This is a breech-loading design that uses Spikes' proprietary STZ push-button lock, which they rate at roughly three times stronger than the lever-style locks common on other launchers. On the 12" model, the tube slides forward for rear feed, so a single push of the button opens things up to pull a spent round and drop in a fresh one. It's a smooth, quick cycle once you get the hang of it, and the beefy lockup gives you confidence every time you close it back down.
Mounting the Havoc 37mm Launcher
Installation is about as simple as it gets. The launcher slides onto the bottom rail of a Picatinny handguard and secures with two included set screws, no gunsmithing required. It's built to mount on any Mil-Spec rail system, and you'll want a handguard that's 7 inches or longer to give it room to sit right. This 12" version runs a 9-inch tube and tips the scale right around 2 lbs 14 oz.
What You Can Send Downrange
The Havoc handles 37mm rounds, including 5-3/4" flares, smoke, and other signaling or training cartridges. It's a genuinely fun setup for field use, signaling practice, or just adding some character to a range build. If you like tinkering, the components for these rounds are out there to load your own, and Spikes also offers Kaos Stock Systems that convert a rail-mounted Havoc into a standalone unit.

Frequently Asked Questions
What rounds does the 12" Havoc 37mm launcher fire?
It's built for standard 37mm cartridges, including 5-3/4" flares, smoke, and other signaling or training rounds. These are the same style of loads used across common 37mm launching systems. If you reload, the components to build your own 37mm rounds are readily available.
How does the Havoc mount to my rifle?
The launcher slides onto the bottom Picatinny rail of your handguard and locks down with two included set screws, so no gunsmithing is needed. You'll want a handguard that's at least 7 inches long to give it room to sit properly. It's designed to work with any Mil-Spec rail system.
What's the difference between the 12" and 9" Havoc launchers?
On this 12" model, the tube slides forward for rear feed loading, while the 9" version uses a tube that pivots out to the side. Both share the same billet construction and STZ push-button breech lock. The 12" runs a longer 9-inch tube and weighs a touch more.
Can I run the Havoc as a standalone launcher?
Yes. Spikes Tactical offers Kaos Stock Systems that take your rail-mounted Havoc and turn it into a standalone unit. Those setups are compatible with most aftermarket AR-15 stocks, latch plates, and pistol grips.
