Description

Thick, uneven case necks are one of those quiet accuracy killers that a lot of reloaders never chase down. The Forster 0.3575" Inside Neck Reamer, part number NR1355, tackles that problem head on by removing excess brass from the inside of your .35 caliber case necks. Ground to a reamer diameter of .3575" for use with .355" bullets, it cleans up wall thickness so your necks hold the bullet more consistently and release more predictably.

What the NR1355 Reamer Does to Your Brass

Forster builds this reamer from high grade, wear-resistant tool steel, and standard neck reamers like this one are ground .0025" to .003" over the maximum bullet diameter. The staggered tooth design is the real trick here, cutting brass smoothly without the chatter you'd get from a cheaper tool. Thick case necks can bump up chamber pressures and throw flyers downrange, and reaming the inside walls is a direct way to keep that in check on brass that runs heavy.

Running the 0.3575" Inside Neck Reamer on Your Trimmer

This reamer is made to drop into the Original, Classic, and Power Case Trimmers from Forster. It mounts in the cutter head in place of the pilot, so if you already own one of those trimmers, you're set. Insert it, turn the cutter assembly until the reamer passes completely through the neck, then keep turning as you withdraw it. Finish by chamfering and deburring the case mouth, then size your necks.

Timing matters with this one. Standard neck reamers are meant to be used after the case has been fired with a full load and before the neck or full length sizing operation. A good rule of thumb that Forster passes along is to ream after firing or turn after sizing. If you shoot a .35 caliber wildcat or just run brass that measures heavy at the neck, this is a straightforward way to bring it back into spec and get cleaner, more repeatable results.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Forster 0.3575" Inside Neck Reamer fit?

This reamer is sized for .35 caliber cases using .355" diameter bullets. It mounts in the cutter head of the Forster Original, Classic, and Power Case Trimmers in place of the pilot. You'll need one of those trimmers to run it.

When should I ream my case necks with the NR1355?

Standard neck reamers are intended for use after the case has been fired with a full load and before the neck or full length sizing operation. Forster's rule of thumb is to ream after firing or turn after sizing. After reaming, chamfer and deburr the case mouth and then size the necks.

Why would I need to ream the inside of my case necks?

Over time and especially with some wildcat conversions, case necks can end up with thick or uneven walls. That extra brass can raise chamber pressures and cause flyers. Reaming the inside walls brings the necks back toward uniform thickness for more consistent bullet tension and better accuracy.

Does this inside neck reamer cut cleanly without chatter?

Yes. The NR1355 uses a staggered tooth design specifically to shear brass smoothly and avoid chattering. It's ground from high grade, wear-resistant tool steel so it holds its edge through plenty of cases.
