Description

The MDT Fuzion short action is the heart of a precision rifle build, originally designed by Lone Peak Arms and now part of the MDT lineup. This is the right-handed, short action version cut for a .308 bolt face with a 75-degree bolt throw. It's machined from pre-hardened 416R stainless steel rated around 40 Rockwell, which means it stays dimensionally stable and holds its tolerances even after high round counts. If you're assembling a rifle from the receiver up, this is the kind of foundation that makes everything downstream easier.

What Sets the Fuzion Action Apart

MDT didn't cut corners on the machining. The receiver raceways are cut with wire EDM to tight tolerances, and both the 20 MOA Picatinny rail and the recoil lug are machined directly into the action body. That integral design matters because there are no separate pieces to work loose or shift under recoil, so your optic stays put and your zero holds. You also get a side bolt release and a nitrided surface finish for added hardness and corrosion resistance.

The Bolt and Cycling Feel

The Fuzion ships with a one-piece fluted bolt made from pre-hardened 4340 chrome-moly steel. Fluting trims the reciprocating mass so there's less weight to move on every stroke, which makes the action quicker to run between shots. It runs a mini M-16 style extractor, a plunger ejector, and a lightweight firing pin assembly for fast lock time. The threaded bolt handle lets you swap bolt knobs to suit your preference, and the 75-degree throw shortens bolt lift for better scope clearance and faster follow-up shots.

Building on the Fuzion 308

Because it uses the Remington 700 footprint, this action drops into the enormous aftermarket of stocks, chassis, triggers, and bottom metal. The short action magazine well is cut for AW-style magazines, the barrel tenon is a standard 1 1/16"x16 TPI thread, and the 1.350" multi-flat diameter keeps it compatible with Remington 700 inlets. Whether you're putting together a hunting rig, a PRS competition gun, or a tactical build, the Fuzion gives you a dependable, accurate starting point.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the MDT Fuzion fit my Remington 700 stock and chassis?

Yes. The Fuzion is built on the Remington 700 footprint, so it drops into the huge aftermarket of 700-pattern stocks, chassis, triggers, and bottom metal. The 1.350" multi-flat diameter is designed to be compatible with Remington 700 inlets. It's a straightforward swap for most 700-based setups.

What barrels work with this Fuzion action?

The Fuzion uses a 1 1/16" x 16 TPI barrel thread tenon, which is the standard Remington 700 barrel thread. It's set up to accept precision pre-fit barrels, so you can thread on a shouldered pre-fit and headspace it without a lot of fuss. For a non-pre-fit barrel, a gunsmith can chamber and fit it to this tenon.

Is the 20 MOA rail and recoil lug built into the Fuzion or separate?

Both are machined directly into the receiver. The integral 20 MOA Picatinny rail and integral recoil lug mean there are no separate pieces that can loosen or shift under recoil, which gives you a more rigid platform and helps your optic hold zero. That built-in design is one of the main reasons shooters choose this action for high round count use.

What magazines does the Fuzion short action use?

This short action is cut for AW-style magazines. That makes it a natural match for AICS and AW-pattern detachable box magazines commonly used in precision and tactical builds. Pair it with Remington 700 footprint bottom metal to complete the magazine setup.
