Description
The Brigand Arms EDGE Handguard turns heads for a reason. Instead of the usual machined aluminum tube, it's built from a patented woven carbon fiber lattice the company calls NOAX, made from T700 carbon fiber and capped on both ends with hard-anodized aluminum. That open braid construction is where all the magic happens: it's stronger than aluminum while coming in at roughly a third of the weight of a comparable metal rail, so your build stays nimble and quick to point. At 12.375 inches, this length gives you plenty of real estate for a solid support-hand grip while still clearing most mid-length setups.
What Sets the EDGE Carbon Fiber Handguard Apart
The woven lattice isn't just for looks, though it certainly looks the part. All those open gaps mean the barrel gets full airflow and sheds heat far faster than a sealed tube, which keeps your forend cooler during longer strings of fire. The textured carbon rods also give you a naturally grippy, repeatable hold without needing added panels. The EDGE specifically uses a flat forward end cap, which keeps a clean classic profile and plays nice if you're running a suppressor down the line.
Mounting Accessories on Your EDGE Handguard
Don't let the skeletal look fool you into thinking you can't hang gear on it. The EDGE accepts both M-LOK and Picatinny accessories using Brigand's backing plates, and because they mount along the lattice, you can position a light, sling point, or bipod just about anywhere at nearly any angle. The 2.5" Picatinny rail segment is sold separately if you want to add sections while keeping the overall weight down.
Every EDGE ships with Brigand's own free-float barrel nut and jam nut, so it installs right out of the box on a standard AR-15 upper. Since it free-floats, there's zero pressure on the barrel and no shift in your point of impact. Like most free-float rails, you'll want a low-profile gas block underneath it, and it's worth having a gunsmith or armorer's wrench on hand for the install.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the EDGE handguard fit my AR-15 upper?
Yes, the EDGE is designed for standard AR-15 uppers and installs with the included free-float barrel nut, which replaces your existing nut. You will need a low-profile gas block underneath it since it free-floats over the barrel. It's a straightforward install, though an armorer's wrench makes tightening the barrel nut easier.
Can I mount a light, sling, or bipod on the carbon fiber handguard?
You can. The EDGE accepts both M-LOK and Picatinny accessories using Brigand's backing plates, and thanks to the woven lattice you can position gear almost anywhere along the rail at nearly any angle. The 2.5" Picatinny rail segment is sold separately if you want to add a rail section.
Is a carbon fiber handguard actually strong enough for hard use?
The woven NOAX construction is stronger than aluminum while weighing less than half as much, so it holds up far better than its skeletal look suggests. Brigand has famously demonstrated their rails supporting significant weight hung off the end. The hard-anodized aluminum end caps also protect the leading edge from impacts.
Does the open weave really help with barrel heat?
It does. The open lattice allows full airflow around the barrel, so heat sheds faster than it would inside a sealed aluminum tube. That keeps your support hand more comfortable during longer shooting sessions and helps maintain consistency in sustained fire.
