It's built around an 18-inch 416R stainless steel barrel with a heavy HBAR profile and a 1:7.5 twist, which is the sweet spot for stabilizing the heavier, high-BC 6mm bullets the cartridge is known for. Developed by Hornady in 2020, the 6mm ARC was designed to squeeze long-range performance out of the standard AR-15 platform without stepping up to a heavier AR-10. The faster 1:7.5 twist is chosen to stabilize the heavier bullet weights the 6mm ARC is designed around, typically in the 100 to 108 grain range. Those long, high-BC projectiles need the extra spin to stay accurate downrange. It gives you consistent stabilization across the common factory loads.
It's threaded 5/8×24, which is the standard thread pitch for 6mm ARC and most .30 caliber and 6mm muzzle devices. That means you can add a brake, flash hider, or suppressor mount without hunting for oddball adapters. It's a nice touch of versatility for building the rifle out the way you want.
