The WOOX Sporter Precision Stock takes the Ruger American Gen II short action platform and gives it the kind of fit and finish you'd normally expect from a custom shop build. Instead of molding synthetic furniture, WOOX hand selects Claro American walnut blanks and shapes each one around a precision machined aluminum mini-chassis hidden inside. The result is a stock that carries the warmth and grain of real wood on the outside while staying rock solid where it counts.
This isn't a heavy target stock bolted onto a hunting gun. The Sporter keeps a slim forend and a traditional grip angle so it still points and carries like the rifle you're used to, just tighter and more refined. It comes in at roughly 30 ounces, so you're not adding a bunch of extra weight to a rifle you're planning to hike into the backcountry with. WOOX built it to work with the common Ruger American barrel profiles, whether your rifle wears a straight, pencil, or match contour.
The factory stock on most Ruger Americans does its job, but it flexes more than you'd like under recoil and doesn't do much for accuracy. Dropping in this stock gives you a stiffer platform, a more consistent cheek weld, and bedding that holds its position shot after shot. It reuses your rifle's factory magazine insert, so it plays nice with single stack setups and AICS style bottom metal without you having to source new mags. Length of pull can also be tuned using WOOX's optional spacer system if you want to dial in a more personal fit.
Each piece of walnut is graded before it ever gets shaped, and only about one in twenty five blanks has the figure and density to become a Sporter stock. That means the grain pattern on your stock is genuinely one of a kind. It's a drop in fit for the Ruger American Gen II short action, so there's no gunsmithing required to get it mounted and ready to shoot.
Yes, this stock reuses your rifle's factory magazine insert, so it works with single-stack and AICS-pattern setups without needing new magazines. You'll just need to check which magazine style your specific Ruger American Gen II variant uses before ordering. Standard, Ranch, Predator, Scout, Prairie, and Patrol short action models are all supported.
No, the stock ships without spacers installed. Length of pull can be adjusted using WOOX's optional spacer system, which is sold separately if you want to fine tune the fit.
Not really. This is a drop-in fit for the Ruger American Gen II short action, meaning it's machined to spec for that action and installs without any modification or special tools. Most people can swap it themselves with basic hand tools.
Every WOOX Sporter stock is cut from an individually selected walnut blank, and only about one in twenty five blanks meets their standard. That means the color and figure will vary a bit from stock to stock, so yours will have its own unique character.
