A few magazines in, the can is radiating heat, your sight picture starts swimming with mirage, and the whole front end of the rifle becomes something you do not want to brush against. The Amend2 Hi-Temp Suppressor Cover V1 takes care of all three problems in one wrap, and this version is sized for longer cans at 7.5 inches with a 1.5 inch diameter, which covers most full-size 30 caliber and larger suppressors.
The outer shell is 1000D Cordura, the same heavyweight nylon you find on serious packs and plate carriers, with a water-repellent finish that shrugs off fading and mildew through hard seasons. Inside, a dual-layer fiberglass and silicone sleeve is rated to 1600 degrees Fahrenheit, so it keeps working when the can gets genuinely hot instead of melting into your baffle stack's new best friend. The hook-and-loop retention straps are Nomex, so the fastening system itself resists heat rather than letting go right when things get warm.
A cover that walks forward under recoil is worse than no cover at all. Amend2 addressed that with a metal tri-glide buckle and a friction-lock design that keeps tension on the wrap through recoil, vibration, and long strings of fire. The buckle is metal for a reason, since plastic hardware near a hot suppressor tends to warp and quit. Cinch it down once and it stays where you put it.
One thing worth knowing before you buy: this cover is built for sustained practical shooting, not mag dumps or full-auto abuse. Run it the way most of us shoot, whether that is a training class, a match, or a long day of hunting and range work, and it will keep the mirage out of your optic and the heat off your hands and gear. At this weight and build quality, it is an easy add for any suppressed rifle setup.
This version is cut for cans up to 7.5 inches long and 1.5 inches in diameter, which covers most full-size 30 caliber and multi-caliber suppressors. Amend2 also makes the same cover in 4.5 and 6 inch lengths for shorter cans. Measure your suppressor's body length and diameter before ordering to get the right fit.
The dual-layer fiberglass and silicone inner sleeve is rated to 1600 degrees Fahrenheit, and the Nomex straps and metal tri-glide buckle are chosen specifically to resist heat. That said, Amend2 does not recommend it for mag dumps, full-auto fire, or other extremely high-volume shooting, since that kind of heat can damage the cover and the suppressor itself. For normal training, hunting, and match use, it has plenty of headroom.
It is designed not to. The metal tri-glide buckle uses a friction-lock setup that holds tension through recoil, vibration, and extended strings of fire, and the Nomex hook-and-loop straps keep their grip even when things get hot. Cinch it down properly when the can is cool and it stays put.
Three main reasons. First, it cuts down heat mirage rising off the can, which keeps your sight picture clear during sustained fire. Second, it protects you and your gear from burns when the suppressor is hot, whether you are slinging the rifle or stowing it. Third, the 1000D Cordura shell adds a layer of scratch and abrasion protection for the suppressor's finish.
