Description

The Diamondback DBX takes the 5.7x28mm cartridge and wraps it in one of the lightest, slimmest large-format pistols you'll find. It tips the scale right around 3 pounds and runs about 15.25 inches long, with a max width of roughly 1.75 inches. That makes it easy to stash in a bag or behind the truck seat, while the 20+1 capacity and high-velocity, low-recoil 5.7 round give you a lot of fast follow-up shots without beating up your hands.

Under the hood, the DBX uses a locked breech with a dual gas piston operating system. It borrows a good bit from the AR-15 world too, running a standard Mil-Spec trigger, a familiar safety selector, and an M-LOK handguard, so a lot of the controls feel like home and customizing is straightforward. The 8-inch stainless barrel wears a 1/2×28 thread pattern under the DBX muzzle device, which means it's ready for a suppressor or your muzzle device of choice when you want to run it quiet.

What Sets the DBX Apart at the Range

The receiver is forged 7075-T6 aluminum with a 6061 aluminum handguard, finished in a sharp Midnight Bronze Cerakote that looks as good as it holds up. There's a full-length top Picatinny rail for an optic, M-LOK slots up front for lights or a foregrip, and a rear Pic section for adding a brace or stock down the road. Reviewers consistently call it accurate and flat-shooting, with folks reporting thousands of rounds through range guns without much fuss.

Feeding the Diamondback DBX

Magazines are FN Five-seveN compatible, which is handy since that format is widely available, and the DBX ships with one 20-round mag. Whether you're plinking, running it as a fun PDW-style range gun, or setting it up for personal defense, the 5.7x28mm round delivers serious velocity in a small frame. It's a different animal than your average pistol, and that's exactly the point.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Diamondback DBX suppressor-ready?

Yes. The 8-inch stainless barrel comes threaded with a standard 1/2×28 RH pattern under the included DBX muzzle device. That means you can swap on a suppressor or the muzzle device of your choice without any extra machining.

What magazines does the DBX 5.7x28mm use?

It runs FN Five-seveN compatible magazines, and it ships with one 20-round mag. Since that format is widely available, picking up spares is pretty easy. Some shooters have also run aftermarket options like ProMag in them.

How much does the Diamondback DBX weigh and how big is it?

The DBX is one of the lightest PDW-style pistols out there at right around 3 pounds unloaded. Overall length is about 15.25 inches and it's barely over an inch and a half wide, so it's genuinely compact and easy to stow.

Does the DBX use AR-15 parts?

It borrows several familiar AR-15 components, including a standard Mil-Spec trigger, the safety selector, and an M-LOK handguard. That makes the controls feel intuitive if you've run an AR, though the dual gas piston system is unique to the DBX, so it's worth reading the manual before your first field strip.

Is the DBX accurate and reliable?

Reviewers and range owners consistently describe it as accurate and flat-shooting, with the low-recoil 5.7 round making fast follow-up shots easy. Some high-volume range guns have run several thousand rounds reliably. A quality optic on the full-length top rail helps you get the most out of it.

Does the DBX come with a brace or stock?

No. The DBX ships without a brace or stock, but it has a rear Picatinny rail section so you can add one later if you choose. Up top there's a full-length rail for optics, plus M-LOK slots on the handguard for lights, lasers, or a foregrip.
