The Kahr P45 answers a question a lot of concealed carriers have wrestled with: how do you carry a real .45 ACP without lugging around a brick all day? Kahr's answer is a single-stack compact built on a textured black polymer frame with steel inserts molded in, topped with a matte blackened stainless steel slide. At roughly 18.5 ounces empty and just over six inches long, it'll genuinely sit in the palm of your hand, yet there's enough grip to get all your fingers on board.

The heart of this pistol is its double-action-only trigger. Kahr triggers have a reputation that holds up in the real world, with a long but glass-smooth stroke that breaks around six pounds. There's a revolver-like quality to it that a lot of shooters find natural under stress, and since there's no manual safety to fumble, you simply draw and press. A passive striker block and locked-breech, Browning-style recoil setup keep it safe to carry with a round chambered.

Despite the light weight, recoil is more manageable than the numbers suggest. The low bore axis and stout recoil spring tame muzzle flip, so the gun stays flatter than a lot of steel commanders shooters compare it to. The 3.64-inch barrel uses Lothar Walther match-grade polygonal rifling, which is a big part of why these pistols print tighter groups than their short sight radius would suggest. One thing worth knowing going in: Kahr recommends a 200-round break-in, and you may see a few hiccups before things smooth out. Once it's run in and fed quality ammo, owners report years of reliable, accurate carry. It ships with two stainless 6-round magazines and a lockable hard case.
