The Trijicon RMR Type 2 RM07 has earned its reputation the hard way, bouncing around on duty guns, competition rigs, and home defense setups for years without flinching. This one wears a Cerakote Sniper Gray finish and runs a 6.5 MOA red dot, which is the largest aiming point Trijicon offers across its LED and adjustable LED lineup. That bigger dot is the whole appeal here. It jumps out fast when you present the gun, and it stays plenty precise for close to mid range work.
The housing is forged from 7075-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum with a patented shape that pushes impact away from the lens instead of into it. That design is a big reason the RMR holds up where lesser optics give out. The tempered glass window is scratch and impact resistant, and the whole sight is waterproof down to 66 feet. The Type 2 generation also brought upgraded electronics and ruggedized battery contacts, which fixed the shutdown issues some older units had and made this a far more dependable optic under recoil.
You get eight brightness settings, including two night vision levels and one super-bright daytime setting, plus an automatic mode that reads ambient light and adjusts the dot for you. Windage and elevation move in 1 MOA clicks with tactile, audible feedback. Power comes from a single CR2032 battery that delivers over four years of continuous runtime at setting four, so you can leave it on and forget about it.
The 6.5 MOA dot is a favorite for carry pistols and action pistol games where speed matters more than threading a needle at distance. At typical pistol ranges that dot still covers only a small area of the target, so you are not giving up meaningful accuracy inside 25 yards. If your eyes aren't what they used to be or you fight a little astigmatism, the larger dot tends to read cleaner and pick up quicker than the smaller options.
No, this version ships without a mount. It includes the mounting screws and wrench, but you'll need the correct plate or adapter for your pistol slide or a Picatinny mount if you're running it on a rifle or shotgun. The RMR footprint is one of the most widely supported in the industry, so finding the right mount is rarely an issue.
The 6.5 MOA dot is the biggest Trijicon offers in this line and shines on carry pistols and action pistol shooting where picking up the dot fast is the priority. It stays accurate enough for anything inside 25 yards and tends to read cleaner for folks with less-than-perfect eyes or mild astigmatism. If you're building a precision rifle setup or want a crisp dot for longer shots, a smaller MOA option might suit you better.
The single CR2032 battery delivers over four years of continuous use at brightness setting four out of eight when stored around 70 degrees. The automatic brightness mode and battery conservation features help stretch that even further. Most owners just leave the optic on and swap the battery on a schedule.
Yes. The adjustable LED gives you eight brightness settings, two of which are dedicated night vision levels, so it pairs well with NODs. There's also a super-bright daytime setting for bright, sunny conditions.
