Description

The RCBS Rotary Case Cleaner handles the dirty part of reloading so your brass comes out looking better than new. Unlike a vibratory tumbler that rattles your bench and your eardrums, this is a real rotary unit that rolls cases through a wet media bath at a steady 60 RPM. That tumbling action reaches everywhere, scrubbing all surfaces of the cartridge case inside and out, including the primer pockets and case necks that dry media struggles to touch.

With a 7.4 quart (7.0 liter) drum, there's plenty of room to run a big batch of pistol or rifle brass in one go. The gear-driven motor is quiet by tumbler standards, and the rubber-lined drum keeps the rolling clatter of pins and brass to a reasonable level so you're not driving everyone out of the garage. An adjustable timer lets you dial in anywhere from a few minutes up to three hours of continuous cleaning, so light jobs and heavily tarnished range pickups both get the time they need.

Living With the RCBS Rotary Case Cleaner

The drum has an ergonomic handle that makes lifting and dumping a loaded batch a lot easier, and the quick-locking lid snaps shut to keep water, pins, and brass where they belong while it runs. There's an on/off fused switch built in, and the whole thing is meant to sit on a flat, hard surface. A concrete floor is the sweet spot since it keeps the unit stable and soaks up vibration.

What Makes Wet Tumbling Worth It

Stainless pin media paired with a little water and cleaning concentrate gives you that bright, almost polished finish that dry corncob or walnut just can't match. It's gentle on the brass too, which helps extend case life over more aggressive methods. The unit ships with five pounds of magnetic stainless steel pin media, so you have what you need to start cleaning right away. Pair it with a case/media separator and some cleaning concentrate and you've got a complete wet tumbling setup that turns grimy range brass into reload-ready cases.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the RCBS Rotary Case Cleaner use wet or dry media?

It's a wet tumbling system. You run the stainless steel pin media along with water and a cleaning concentrate, which gets cases bright inside and out, including the primer pockets. This gives a much cleaner finish than dry corncob or walnut media.

How much brass can the 7.4 qt drum handle at once?

The drum holds 7.4 quarts (7.0 liters) of working capacity, which is enough room to run a sizable batch of mixed pistol or rifle brass in a single load. RCBS provides a case weight reference in the instructions to help you load the right amount. Keeping batches within the recommended weight lets the pins and brass tumble freely for the best results.

Is the RCBS Rotary Case Cleaner loud while it runs?

It's quieter than most vibratory tumblers thanks to the rubber-lined drum and the gear-driven motor that spins at a steady 60 RPM. You'll still hear the pins and brass rolling, but it's a soft tumbling sound rather than the harsh buzz of a vibratory unit. Running it on a concrete floor helps keep things stable and cuts down on vibration.

Do I need to buy extra media to get started?

No, the cleaner ships with five pounds of magnetic stainless steel pin media, so you can start cleaning right out of the box. You will want water and a case cleaning concentrate to go with it. A case/media separator is also handy for sorting the pins out of your finished brass, though it's sold separately.
