There's a lot to like about a bolt gun built around its cartridge instead of stuffing a small round into an oversized action. The Fence Line Mini uses Howa's true mini action, sized specifically for cartridges like the 6.5 Grendel, which means a shorter bolt throw, less weight, and quicker cycling than a standard short action. Pair that with the Grendel's mild recoil and surprising reach, and you've got a rifle that's easy to shoot well all day, whether you're thinning out prairie dogs or filling a deer tag.
The heart of this rifle is the same M1500 barreled action that's built Howa's reputation since 1979. The 22 inch cold hammer forged barrel comes threaded with a muzzle brake already installed, and it carries Howa's sub-MOA guarantee of one inch or better at 100 yards. The HACT two-stage trigger breaks clean and crisp right out of the box, and the 90 degree bolt throw with dual locking lugs and an M16-style extractor cycles smooth and pulls brass reliably every time. A three-position safety lets you unload with the safety engaged or lock the bolt down completely for the walk back to the truck.
The Prairie Reaper camo pattern covers the HTI synthetic stock, and the barrel and action wear a Cerakote finish that shrugs off weather and hard use. This isn't a safe queen finish, it's built for fence lines, truck racks, and long days in the field. The receiver is ready for optics mounting, and a detachable 5 round magazine keeps reloads quick.
The Grendel punches well above its size, carrying energy comparable to classic deer cartridges but with recoil closer to a rimfire trainer. It's a favorite for predator hunters, hog control, and new hunters who shoot better without getting beat up. In this mini action platform with a 22 inch tube, you're getting the most the cartridge has to offer, all backed by Howa's lifetime warranty on manufacturing defects.
Yes, and that's the whole point. Howa builds a true mini action scaled to cartridges like the 6.5 Grendel, so the bolt travel is shorter, the receiver is lighter, and cycling is faster than running the same round through a standard short action. It's one of the few factory bolt guns that gives the Grendel a properly sized home.
It is. The 22 inch cold hammer forged barrel comes threaded from the factory with a muzzle brake installed. Spin the brake off and you can mount a suppressor or a different muzzle device without a trip to the gunsmith.
The Grendel is a sweet spot cartridge. It delivers energy in the neighborhood of classic deer rounds while recoiling far less, and it stays supersonic well past typical hunting distances. That makes this rifle a great pick for coyotes, hogs, and deer sized game, and it's an easy rifle for newer or recoil sensitive hunters to shoot accurately.
Yes. Howa backs the M1500 platform with a sub-MOA guarantee, meaning one inch or better groups at 100 yards with quality ammunition. The rifle is also covered by a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, which says a lot about how much faith they have in these barreled actions.
