The Timber Creek GLEMROD is designed to solve a real problem with Glock's factory magazine release: it sits too small and too close to the frame, forcing you to either break your grip or stretch your thumb awkwardly. This extended version gives you a bigger target that sits further out from the frame, making mag changes faster and more instinctive whether you're at the range or in training scenarios.
Machined from aircraft-grade billet aluminum, this piece is solid. It's CNC'd to precision and finished with anodized OD Green coating that resists wear and corrosion. The textured contact surface gives your thumb something to grip even if you're wearing gloves, and the extension stays proportional to the trigger guard profile, so it won't interfere with most holsters the way some over-the-top releases do. You get 2 installation screws and an Allen wrench in the box, making the swap straightforward on any Gen 4 or Gen 5 Glock 17 or 19.
If you've got larger hands or you grip your Glock high (which most people do), the factory mag release puts you in a bind. The GLEMROD eliminates that. Drop your magazine with your thumb while keeping your firing grip locked in place, which matters when you're training or competing. No repositioning, no fumbling. It's a small change that makes reloading feel natural.
This isn't a gimmick part that's going to wear out after a season. The aluminum construction and anodized finish hold up to rough use, and the design doesn't add bulky weight to your pistol. It's the kind of upgrade that sits there doing its job, year after year.
Yes, this extended release is designed for both Gen 4 and Gen 5 Glock 17 and 19 models. It's a direct replacement for the factory mag release. Installation takes about 15 minutes with just the included Allen wrench.
The GLEMROD's profile is more conservative than some ultra-extended releases on the market. Most shooters report no holster interference, but you should test it with any IWB holster before carrying to be certain. The design stays close enough to the frame that it won't accidentally press when your gun is in most holsters.
The textured finish gives your thumb a solid grip point, even when you're wearing gloves or your hands are sweaty. This matters for reliable, consistent mag drops during training or competition. It's the difference between a smooth surface that can slip and one that bites just enough to do the job.
No, the GLEMROD is configured for right-hand operation only. The extended button design isn't ambidextrous, so you'll need to use your trigger finger or middle finger to operate it if you're left-handed. Some lefty shooters handle this fine with practice, while others prefer ambidextrous options.
