Maxim Defense built the DSX series to survive the kind of abuse that kills lesser cans, and the DSX HQD takes that same recipe and adds a quick detach HUB mount so you can move it between hosts or pull it off for cleaning in seconds. The heart of the can is a 17-4 stainless steel core wrapped in a Grade 5 titanium tube, which keeps the weight reasonable while standing up to serious round counts. Maxim's M-Kore technology handles the internals, and the design is fully serviceable so you can break it down for maintenance instead of babying it.
This is where the DSX line separates itself from a lot of the field. The DSX HQD is rated for barrels as short as 5.5 inches, which puts it squarely in PDX and short SBR territory where muzzle pressure is at its nastiest. Maxim runs these cans through SOCOM firing tables, the brutal eight magazine sequence that ends in a full auto dump, and they come out the other side still doing their job. It is also UTM-safe, a detail that matters to training units and tells you plenty about the engineering. The DSX platform has a reputation for low gas blowback and minimal gain in cyclic rate compared to traditional baffle designs, which means less gas in your face and a smoother running rifle.
The HQD system uses a HUB pattern quick detach interface, and Maxim includes a QD A2 flash hider in the box so you can get set up on one host right away. Lock it on, shoot, twist it off, done. No wrenches at the range and no fighting a carbon locked thread mount. Add more Maxim QD muzzle devices to your other rifles and one can covers the whole safe.

The DSX HQD is rated for 5.56 barrels as short as 5.5 inches, which is one of its biggest strengths. That covers ultra-short platforms like the Maxim PDX all the way up through standard rifle length barrels. Very few 5.56 cans carry a barrel rating that short, so this one is a natural fit for SBR and pistol builds.
The DSX HQD uses a HUB pattern quick detach mount that locks onto compatible Maxim QD muzzle devices, including the QD A2 flash hider that comes in the box. You can install or remove the suppressor in seconds without tools. If you pick up additional QD muzzle devices for your other rifles, one suppressor can rotate across several hosts.
The DSX series is built for hard use and gets run through SOCOM firing table testing, which includes sustained rapid fire and a full auto magazine dump on short barrels. The 17-4 stainless core and Grade 5 titanium tube are chosen specifically to handle that kind of heat and pressure. It is also UTM-safe and fully serviceable, so it is designed for a long working life rather than occasional range days.
Low back pressure is a hallmark of Maxim's core design. The M-Kore internals are engineered to minimize gas blowback and keep the increase in cyclic rate low compared to traditional baffle stacks. In practice that means less gas at your face and a rifle that runs closer to its unsuppressed behavior.
