The CZ Bren 2 MS didn't start from scratch so much as it started over. While the original 805 Bren was purpose-built for the Czech military, the Bren 2 was redesigned from the ground up with civilian shooters in mind. The cold hammer-forged 11" barrel has a 1-in-7 twist rate optimized for a wide range of 5.56 projectile weights, and the threaded muzzle (1/2×28) is ready for whatever muzzle device you prefer, including a suppressor.
The controls are where this gun really wins over the AR crowd. The safety selector, bolt catch/release, and magazine release are all fully ambidextrous. The non-reciprocating side charging handle stays stowed up front out of the way and can be switched to either side, and it doubles as a forward assist when needed. The trigger is a two-stage design with a clean break, and the pistol grip has a built-in storage compartment and swappable backstrap for ergonomic adjustability.
