The Rost Martin RM1C Mojave is not your average compact 9mm. Built by a veteran-owned, American company out of Dallas, Texas, it comes loaded with features you'd normally expect to pay significantly more for. The Mojave Sand colorway sets this version apart with a higher-grade PVD finish applied to the slide, giving it better protection against rust, scratches, and general wear compared to standard finishes. The result is a two-tone look that's sharp without being flashy, and a finish that's built to hold up.
The heart of the pistol is a 4-inch crowned, match-grade hammer-forged barrel sitting on a low bore axis, which helps keep muzzle flip in check and puts shots where you want them. The flat-face trigger breaks cleanly at around 5 pounds with a short reset that's noticeably better than most factory striker-fired triggers in this price range. Slide serrations run front and rear, and non-glare serrations across the top of the slide reduce eye fatigue during sight acquisition. The RM1C also includes a loaded chamber indicator and a cocked striker indicator in the rear of the slide, so you always know what state the gun is in.
The optic-ready slide ships with a metal RMR-compatible mounting plate, and additional plates for popular footprints like Docter, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, and Shield RMS/SMS are available separately from Rost Martin. The three-slot Picatinny rail up front handles just about any full-size pistol light or laser you'd want to run. Holster support is strong too, with several well-known holster makers offering fits for the RM1C out of the gate.
Rost Martin's Responsive Grip Texturing (RGT) is a graduated laser stippling that varies in intensity depending on where your hand makes contact. It's firm where you need traction and easier on the hands in areas that see more skin contact during carry. Three interchangeable backstraps let you dial in the grip size for your hand, and the extended beavertail and undercut trigger guard let you get a high, secure grip. Ambidextrous slide stop and magazine release make this an easy recommendation for left-handed users as well.
Capacity ships at 15+1 with the flush magazine and 17+1 with the included extended mag, both steel-bodied Mec-Gar units. The RM1C also accepts CZ P10 magazine bodies as a backup option. The RM1C Mojave ships with a metal RMR-footprint mounting plate, which covers the Trijicon RMR and SRO, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, and Holosun 407C, 507C, 508T, and 509 series. Rost Martin also sells separate mounting plates for Docter and Shield RMS/SMS footprints on their website. The plates are metal, not polymer, which is a meaningful upgrade over what some competitors include at this price point.
The Mojave version uses a higher-grade PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) finish in Mojave Sand applied to the slide, rather than the standard Tenifer/nitrocarburizing treatment. PVD is known for excellent hardness and resistance to scratching, corrosion, and wear. It also gives the pistol a distinctive two-tone appearance with the tan slide over the black polymer frame.
The RM1C sits right in the same size bracket as the Glock 19, with a 7.1-inch overall length, 5-inch height with the flush magazine, and a notably slimmer 1.1-inch grip width. Multiple reviewers have noted it fits well in Glock 19 or CZ P10C holsters, so finding aftermarket holster support is not an issue. The RM1C also ships with both a 15-round flush and a 17-round extended magazine, matching or exceeding the G19's capacity at a lower price point.
The RM1C uses its own proprietary double-stack steel magazines made by Mec-Gar. CZ P10 magazine bodies will physically fit and function in the RM1C, though the floor plates differ and won't sit flush. Extra factory RM1C magazines are reasonably priced and available directly from Rost Martin.
Multiple independent reviews, including a 1,500-round test by Guns.com and a 450-round test published in Shooting Illustrated, reported zero malfunctions across a wide variety of 9mm ammunition from light 115-grain ball to 124-grain +P hollowpoints.
