The Echelon 4.0C is Springfield Armory's compact answer for people who want a serious carry pistol without sacrificing what makes the full-size Echelon worth owning. The 4-inch hammer-forged, Melonite-coated barrel sits inside a billet-machined slide that's been treated with the same finish, giving you solid corrosion resistance and a clean, uniform look. At 7.25 inches overall and just 1.2 inches at the grip, it carries better than a full-size without feeling like a compromise at the range. The trigger lives inside the serialized Central Operating Group, a stainless steel chassis that serves as the legal firearm. Critical components inside are machined from tool steel and polished for a clean break and short, positive reset. Average trigger pull comes in right around 5 pounds, which is firm enough for a carry gun and predictable enough to shoot well.
The Variable Interface System is genuinely one of the more clever optic mounting setups on the market right now. Instead of relying on a universal milled cut and a pile of adapter plates, the VIS uses self-locking pins that allow over 30 red dot sights to mount directly to the slide. Trijicon RMR, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, and Shield RMSc footprints all go straight on with no adapter needed. The cut is deep enough that most optics co-witness with the iron sights, which means you're not left without a usable sight picture if your dot goes down. Speaking of irons, the standard setup is a tritium and luminescent front sight paired with a Tactical Rack U-Dot rear.
