Most AR pistols still drag a buffer tube around behind the receiver, and that extra length is exactly what CMMG set out to kill with the Dissent MK4. Their patent pending Compact Action tucks the entire recoil system inside the receiver and pairs it with CMMG's proven Radial Delayed Blowback operation. The result is a 5.7x28mm pistol that measures just 14.7 inches overall, weighs 4.6 pounds unloaded, and still feeds from a 32-round magazine. For anyone building a truck gun, a bag gun, or a lightweight home setup, that size-to-firepower ratio is tough to beat.
The 6.5 inch 4140CM barrel wears a salt bath nitride finish and comes threaded 1/2×28 with CMMG's Zeroed linear compensator installed, which pushes blast forward and keeps the muzzle flat. A forward non-reciprocating side charger ships on the left side and can be swapped to the right, so you can run the gun while keeping your grip and your eyes where they belong. The upper is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum, the MK4 lower is forged from the same alloy, and the whole package is coated in durable Armor Black Cerakote. Up front, a 5.5 inch free-float M-LOK handguard gives you room for a light or hand stop, and the full-length top rail is ready for whatever red dot you prefer.
CMMG didn't drop a mil-spec trigger in here and call it a day. The Dissent runs a TriggerTech AR-D two-stage developed specifically for this platform, breaking at a light, repeatable 4 pounds. Combine that with the soft-cycling Radial Delayed Blowback system and the mild-recoiling 5.7x28mm cartridge, and fast, accurate strings come easy.
Two 32-round magazines come in the box, and 5.7x28mm ammo is far more available than it was a few years back, with loads from FN, Federal, Speer, and Fiocchi all on shelves. Ambidextrous controls, a 1913 Picatinny end cap at the rear, and CMMG's lifetime quality guarantee round out a genuinely clever little pistol.

It ships with a TriggerTech AR-D two-stage trigger that was developed alongside CMMG specifically for the Dissent platform. Pull weight is right around 4 pounds with a crisp, repeatable break. Worth noting that CMMG tuned the gun around this trigger, so it's best to leave it in place rather than swapping in a standard mil-spec unit.
