This two-spring reliability kit from Sprinco pairs their Blue enhanced power carbine buffer spring with their Extra Power 5-coil bolt carrier extractor spring, giving your AR-15 a noticeable bump in both recoil management and extraction consistency. The Blue buffer spring carries design loads roughly 15 percent higher than Sprinco's standard White spring, which translates to a calmer, more controlled recoil impulse and reduced bolt bounce. It came about after Mike Pannone of CTT Solutions modified one of Sprinco's Red springs and pushed for a spring in this load range to handle demanding platforms.
The Blue spring lives in that sweet spot a lot of builders are after. It's a popular pairing with H2 buffers on 14.5 to 16 inch mid-length carbines, and it's a solid pick for over-gassed or suppressed setups where you want to settle things down without going full extra power. Gas port sizes vary wildly out in the wild, so there's some room to tune, but this one covers a huge chunk of real-world carbine builds.
The Extra Power 5-coil extractor spring is where reliable extraction gets dialed in. It runs a heavier spring load than factory OEM springs, which means it grips the case rim harder and does away with the need for a D-Fender ring or extra O-rings. It's totally reliable across all 5.56 barrel lengths, though it can be aggressive on case rims in 18 inch and longer barrels and may be a touch strong for bolts with very tight bolt face tolerances like some 6.8 SPC match bolts.
Both springs are wound from certified chrome silicon wire, then heat treated, stress relieved, and cryogenically processed so they hold their spec far longer than typical springs. Sprinco has documented extractor spring round counts north of 200,000 rounds on a single spring, so this is the kind of upgrade you install once and forget about. For a small part that makes a real difference in how your rifle runs, it's tough to beat.
The Blue enhanced power spring is a favorite for 14.5 to 16 inch mid-length carbines, often paired with an H2 buffer. It's also a strong choice for over-gassed or suppressed rifles where you want to slow the cyclic rate and calm the recoil impulse. Since gas port sizes vary so much from build to build, you've got some room to tune buffer weight to get it dialed in just right.
No. The Extra Power 5-coil extractor spring carries a heavier load than factory OEM springs, so it grips the case rim firmly on its own and eliminates the need for a D-Fender ring. Sprinco specifically does not recommend using D-Fender rings with their 5-coil springs. You can run it with either the black extractor insert or CRANE Viton O-rings, but not both.
It's totally reliable across all 5.56 barrel lengths. That said, in 18 inch and longer barrels it can be aggressive on case rims, and it may be a bit strong for bolts with extremely tight bolt face tolerances, such as some precision 6.8 SPC match bolts. For most 16 inch and shorter builds it's an ideal fit.
