The Clever T3 HV Game Load is a 12 gauge upland shell built around a 1-1/4 ounce payload of #6 lead shot moving at roughly 1330 fps out of a 2-3/4 inch hull. That combination of a heavy charge and high velocity is what makes this load a workhorse in the field. You get plenty of pellets in the air for a dense pattern, plus the extra speed that flattens trajectory and keeps energy on target when a bird kicks out at distance.
#6 shot sits in a sweet spot a lot of bird hunters live in. The pellets carry enough mass to break wings and bones on heavier birds like pheasant, while the pellet count stays high enough to fold quail, dove, chukar, and partridge cleanly. It's a genuine do-it-all upland size, which is why #6 shows up in so many hunting vests come fall. Pair these with a modified or improved cylinder choke and you've got a setup that covers close flushes and medium-range crossers without having to swap shells every time the cover changes.
Clever has been loading shotgun shells in Verona, Italy since the early 1950s, and the brand carries a serious competition pedigree behind its hunting lineup. That shotshell know-how shows up in how consistently these game loads burn and pattern. Reliable ignition, clean star crimps, and even shot distribution are the kind of details that separate a shell you trust from one you second-guess mid-hunt.
These run great through pumps, semi-autos, and over-unders alike, and the high-velocity recipe gives gas and inertia guns the push they need to cycle smoothly. Whether you're walking fields for roosters, sitting a dove field on opening day, or chasing flushing birds through heavy cover, this load gives you the pattern density and downrange punch to make clean shots count. It's a straightforward, dependable upland shell that does exactly what a game load should.
This #6 load is a strong all-around upland choice. It's got enough pellet mass to handle tougher birds like pheasant at shorter ranges while keeping the pellet count high for quail, dove, chukar, and partridge. If you want one shell to cover a mixed-bag upland day, #6 is hard to beat.
The HV stands for high velocity, and these push a 1-1/4oz payload at around 1330 fps. That extra speed flattens the trajectory and keeps more energy on target downrange, which helps on birds that flush far out or cross fast. It also gives semi-autos a little more push to cycle reliably.
They should run well. The high-velocity, 1-1/4oz charge produces plenty of pressure to work gas and inertia-driven actions, and these also feed smoothly in pumps and over-unders. As always, it's worth running a box through your specific gun to confirm it likes them.
For most upland hunting, improved cylinder or modified gives you a good balance of pattern density and spread. Improved cylinder opens things up for close flushes in heavy cover, while modified reaches out a bit more for crossing or flushing birds. Pattern your gun to see what it prefers.
