Description

This is BCM's complete lower receiver group built around the MK2 Recoil Mitigation System and finished with the wide-body Mod 0 SOPMOD stock in black. It carries a factory cosmetic blem, which is a surface-only mark in the anodizing that got flagged during BCM's visual inspection. It has no effect on fit, function, or durability, and most folks find it disappears once the lower is pinned to an upper and built into a running rifle. If you'd rather spend your money on performance than a flawless finish, this is a smart way in the door.

The receiver is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum forgings and hardcoat anodized to MIL-A-8625F Type III Class 2, so it holds up to real-world wear and corrosion. It ships fully assembled with the fire control group, BCM PNT (Polished Nickel Teflon) trigger, Gunfighter pistol grip, enhanced trigger guard, and QD end plate already installed. The receiver also has a low-shelf cut that supports RDIAS installation and Accuwedge use, and the fire controls are clearly marked SAFE and SEMI. Pin it to any mil-spec AR-15 upper and you have a working rifle.

What the MK2 RMS Brings to the Table

The standout here is BCM's MK2 Recoil Mitigation System, an intermediate A5-style buffer setup. It uses a receiver extension roughly three-quarters of an inch longer than a standard carbine tube, paired with a mil-spec M16A4 rifle spring that has more coils and a heavier buffer. That combination spreads the load across more spring, slows the bolt carrier down, and widens the operating envelope so the gun is less picky about ammo and maintenance. The end result is a smoother cycle and noticeably less felt recoil.

Living With the Mod 0 Stock

The wide-body Mod 0 SOPMOD stock gives you a pronounced cheek weld that a lot of builders rate as one of the most comfortable out there. It's a snag-free polymer design with a modular VBOST sling tab, ambidextrous QD sockets, and a rubber butt pad. Because the MK2 extension runs longer than a standard carbine tube, the stock won't fully collapse to the lock nut, but it adjusts through its length-of-pull positions exactly as designed. That's a small difference in collapsed length, not a fitment issue.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the factory blem on this BCM complete lower mean?

A blem is a cosmetic imperfection, usually a small mark or minor flaw in the anodized finish that didn't pass BCM's strict visual inspection. It's a surface-only issue that has no effect on fit, function, or durability. You get the same components and the same performance as a first-quality BCM lower. Many builders find the mark is nearly invisible once the lower is assembled into a complete rifle.

Is the BCM MK2 lower ready to shoot or do I still need parts?

It's a complete lower group, so the trigger, grip, trigger guard, stock, and buffer system are all installed at the factory. You just pin it to any mil-spec AR-15 upper receiver and you have a running rifle. There are no additional lower parts to source or assemble.

What is the benefit of the MK2 Recoil Mitigation System?

The MK2 RMS uses a receiver extension about three-quarters of an inch longer than a standard carbine tube, paired with a mil-spec M16A4 rifle spring and a heavier buffer. That setup slows the bolt carrier down and spreads the load over more spring, which smooths out the cycle and cuts felt recoil. It also widens the operating envelope, making the rifle less sensitive to ammo choice and maintenance schedules.

Will any stock work with the MK2 receiver extension?

The Mod 0 SOPMOD stock included here is designed to run on the MK2 system and adjusts through its length-of-pull positions as expected. Because the MK2 extension is longer than a standard carbine tube, some stocks may not collapse all the way down to the lock nut. That's a slight difference in fully collapsed length, not a fitment problem.
