There is a reason the Savage 110 has been filling freezers since 1958, and the Trail Hunter Lite V2 might be the most practical version of it yet. Savage teamed up with Hogue on this one, wrapping the stock in full coverage rubber overmold so the rifle stays planted in your hands whether you are climbing into a stand in the rain or gripping it with cold, wet gloves. The barreled action wears a Tungsten Cerakote finish, which does a solid job sealing out moisture and holding up to the dings and scrapes that come with real hunting seasons.
This 308 Win version tips the scales right around 6.9 pounds, thanks in part to the fluted 20 inch barrel. That shorter, medium contour barrel keeps the rifle balanced and quick to shoulder in tight timber, and the muzzle comes threaded 5/8×24 so adding a suppressor or brake is a five minute job. Savage also installs two-piece Weaver style bases at the factory, so you can mount glass and head to the range without hunting down extra hardware. Two sling swivel studs come standard for your sling or bipod.
The user-adjustable AccuTrigger is the same one that built Savage's reputation for out-of-the-box accuracy, letting you dial the pull weight down to a crisp, clean break without a trip to the gunsmith. A three position tang safety sits right under your thumb, letting you cycle the bolt to unload with the safety still engaged. Rounds feed from a detachable 4 round box magazine, so topping off or emptying the rifle at the truck is quick and simple.
Chambered in 308 Win with a 1:10 twist, this rifle handles everything from whitetails and hogs to black bear, and factory ammo is on every shelf in the country. If you want one bolt gun that can cover most of your hunting without babying it, the Trail Hunter Lite V2 makes a strong case for itself.
Yes. The 20 inch barrel comes threaded in the standard 5/8×24 pattern, so most 30 caliber suppressors and muzzle brakes will spin right on. A thread protector keeps the muzzle covered when you are running it bare.
The V2 is an updated take on the same recipe: Hogue Overmolded stock, Tungsten Cerakote barreled action, fluted threaded barrel, and AccuTrigger. The most visible change is the black stock in place of the earlier OD green, and Savage expanded the caliber lineup with the refresh. Core handling and features carry over.
There are no iron sights on this rifle, but Savage installs two-piece Weaver-style bases at the factory. That means you just need rings and a scope to get it range ready, no drilling or extra base purchase required.
Yes, it ships with Savage's AccuTrigger, which is user adjustable with the included tool over roughly a 2.5 to 6 pound range. It breaks clean and crisp, and the built-in safety blade design keeps it secure even at lighter settings. Most owners dial it down once and never touch it again.
