The Clever Mirage Super Target T1 is one of those loads that quietly earns a spot in your range bag and stays there. Built by Clever SRL in Verona, Italy, a name that's been crafting shotgun cartridges since 1952, this 12 gauge shell pairs a 1oz load of #7.5 shot with a 1200 fps velocity. That combination hits a sweet spot for clay games: enough punch to break birds cleanly, and a manageable push that keeps you comfortable through a full round.
The T1 uses hard lead shot with a 2.5% antimony content, which helps the pellets hold their shape through the barrel and choke for tighter, more predictable patterns. It rides in a 2-3/4" plastic hull with a clean-burning powder and a reliable primer. That's the same recipe Clever has used to rack up world records across the clay disciplines, so you're getting genuine competition-grade construction in a load that doesn't fuss.
The reputation here is well earned. Folks running these through everything from over/unders to semi-autos like the A400 and 1100 report smooth cycling, no failures to feed or eject, and recoil that feels noticeably softer than domestic loads of similar spec. Scores back it up too, with shooters posting strong trap and skeet rounds on these shells. The #7.5 shot size is a versatile pick, at home on American trap, skeet, sporting clays, and double trap alike.
If you reload, the Mirage hulls are worth hanging onto. Many shooters run Remington data with them, swapping to an 8-point crimp die to match Clever's fold. Out of the box, though, these are ready to shoot straight, pattern well, and burn clean enough that your gun won't beg for a scrubbing after a busy day at the range.
The #7.5 shot size is a true all-arounder for the clay games. It works well for American trap, skeet, sporting clays, and double trap, making it a smart single load to keep on hand if you shoot more than one discipline. Plenty of shooters use it across every station without switching shells.
Yes, it has a reputation for low, comfortable recoil. At 1oz and 1200 fps it stays gentle on the shoulder, and many shooters find it noticeably softer than domestic loads with similar ballistics. That makes it easy to shoot through a long session or a full day at the range.
Absolutely, the Mirage hulls reload nicely and many handloaders save them. A common approach is running Remington load data and switching to an 8-point crimp die to match Clever's fold. Just note these hulls have a fairly high base, so keep that in mind as you work them.
It does. Clever loads the T1 with hard lead shot containing 2.5% antimony, which helps the pellets resist deformation on the way out of the barrel. The result is more consistent, tighter patterns that break clays cleanly.
