Springfield took the Echelon lineup and found the sweet spot with the 4.0FC. You get a compact 4 inch slide up top for quick handling and easier carry, matched to a full-length grip module underneath so your whole hand has somewhere to live. That combination pays off fast at the range, where the longer grip soaks up recoil and keeps the muzzle flat through quick strings. This version wears an FDE Cerakote finish over the billet machined steel slide with a black Melonite hammer forged barrel underneath, cut with a 1:10 twist and built to shrug off wear and weather.
This is the Gear Pac package, which means the extras most people buy anyway are already in the box. You get a Viridian RFX11 green dot with Instant-On technology and roughly 30,000 hours of runtime, four 15-round magazines, and a Springfield pistol bag to haul it all. The RFX11 mounts directly to the slide through Springfield's Variable Interface System, the same optics cut that lets you direct mount a huge range of red dots later without hunting for adapter plates.
At the heart of the pistol sits the serialized Central Operating Group, a self-contained chassis you can drop into different grip modules whenever your needs change. The Adaptive Grip Texture bites in under recoil without chewing up your hands or cover garments, controls are fully ambidextrous, and the U-Dot sight setup gives you a clean, fast picture if you ever run irons. Add the Picatinny rail up front for a light and you have a well-rounded 9mm that handles home defense, duty work, and long range days without breaking a sweat. At 7.25 inches long and around 24 ounces, it carries lighter than a full-size gun but shoots like one.
The Gear Pac bundles the pistol with a Viridian RFX11 green dot optic, four 15-round magazines, and a Springfield pistol bag. It is a ready-to-run setup, so you are not piecing together an optic and spare mags after the fact. The RFX11 mounts directly to the slide's Variable Interface System without adapter plates.
Both share the same 4 inch barrel and compact slide, but the 4.0FC uses a full-length grip module with a shortened dust cover to match the slide. That taller grip gives your support hand more real estate and improves recoil control, making it feel closer to a full-size gun in the hand while keeping the quicker handling of a compact slide.
Yes. The Echelon's Variable Interface System uses self-locking pins that let you direct mount a wide range of popular red dot footprints straight to the slide, no adapter plates needed. It is one of the most flexible optics mounting systems on any striker-fired pistol right now.
It is built for exactly that kind of double duty. The compact slide keeps overall length at 7.25 inches and weight around 24 ounces, while the full-length grip, Adaptive Grip Texture, and ambidextrous controls make it easy to shoot well under pressure. The Picatinny rail also accepts a weapon light for nightstand duty.
