Trading a factory polymer stock for a proper chassis is one of the bigger upgrades you can make on a Ruger American, and the UD6 Chassis Combo gives you a straightforward way to do it. This version is machined specifically for the Ruger American short action, Gen 1 and Gen 2 receivers both included, in a right-hand layout with a black finish. It's cut from a single solid bar of 6061 T6 aircraft aluminum rather than pieced together, and the one-piece chassis itself lands between 1.1 and 1.5 pounds depending on final configuration. That keeps total rifle weight reasonable whether you're building something to carry on a hunt or a bench gun meant to sit at 16 pounds all day.
Rather than buying a bare chassis and then hunting down a compatible buttstock and grip separately, this combo package includes the UD6 chassis, a Gen 2 adjustable buttstock, and a grip, all matched to work together right out of the gate. Length of pull and cheek height adjust on the buttstock so you can get your cheek weld and eye relief dialed in without shimming or improvising. It's built to bolt to a mil-spec carbine buffer tube interface, so if you ever want to swap in a different stock down the road, that option stays open.
Inside the chassis, a V-channel bedding setup holds the barreled action securely for consistent contact and repeatable results, and it's sized to work with free-floated barrels up to 1.35 inches in diameter. The chassis takes AICS-pattern magazines, which gives you more magazine options than the factory setup, and the magazine release lever is adjustable so you can set the amount of pull it takes to drop a mag.
Running down the length of the forend is an integrated ARCA rail, plus M-LOK slots on three sides for mounting bipods, lights, or whatever else your build calls for. The chassis is also compatible with Ultradyne's Dynalock accessories, including their Orbit Ballhead, if you want to expand the mounting options even further later on.
This chassis is machined specifically for the Ruger American short action and covers both Gen 1 and Gen 2 receivers in a right-hand configuration. Just double check that you have a short action Ruger American before ordering, since long action rifles use a different chassis footprint.
