Description

The Ruger American Ranch has earned a reputation as one of the better bang-for-buck bolt guns out there, but the factory stock leaves a lot on the table if you want to build it out. The Heatseeker chassis from Sharps Bros solves that by dropping your AR magazine fed barreled action into a machined aluminum chassis with a free-floated handguard, opening the door to slings, optics, bipods, and a stock setup that actually fits how you shoot. This particular version swaps the usual AR buffer tube mount for a 1913 rail interface at the rear, giving you the freedom to run a Picatinny-interface stock instead of a standard AR buffer tube design.

Heatseeker Chassis Build Quality

Sharps Bros cuts this chassis from a solid block of 6061-T6 aluminum rather than casting or stamping it, which is a big part of why it holds up so well under regular range and field use. The chassis body itself weighs a lean 1 pound 3 ounces, and the included 14 inch handguard adds another 10 ounces, using an extrusion profile Sharps Bros designed specifically for this line and doesn't show up on other chassis systems. Both pieces come finished in matte black Cerakote, which resists scratches, corrosion, and the general wear and tear that comes with hunting trips or long days at the range.

1913 Rail Interface on This Heatseeker Setup

Instead of forcing you into a standard AR buffer tube and stock combo, this Heatseeker model uses a 1913 rail interface at the rear of the chassis. That means you can mount a folding or adjustable stock built for a Picatinny interface, giving you more control over length of pull, cheek height, and overall balance than a fixed buffer tube setup allows. The grip interface stays standard AR-15 pattern, so swapping in your favorite grip is a non-issue.

Handguard Layout and Fit

The 14 inch handguard runs M-LOK slots on all four sides, so mounting a light, bipod, night vision unit, or an ARCA rail is straightforward, and there are two quick disconnect sling points on each side for whatever carry setup you prefer. This chassis is built for the AR magazine fed Ruger American Ranch platform across a wide range of calibers, including .223/5.56, 300 Blackout, 350 Legend, 6.5 Grendel, 7.62×39, and 450 Bushmaster, and it drops in without needing a trip to the gunsmith.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Heatseeker chassis fit my Ruger American Ranch?

This chassis is built for the AR magazine fed Ruger American Ranch models, not the flush-fit magazine version, so double check which one you own before ordering. It's designed for rifles with serial numbers starting at 6901xxxxx and up, and it covers calibers like .223/5.56, 300 Blackout, 350 Legend, 6.5 Grendel, 7.62×39, and 450 Bushmaster.

Does this chassis come with a stock or grip?

No, this version comes with a 1913 rail interface instead of a fixed buttstock, so you'll need to pick out a Picatinny-interface stock separately based on how you want the rifle to fit. The grip interface is standard AR-15 pattern, so any AR grip you already have on hand will work.

Do I need a gunsmith to install the Heatseeker chassis?

No gunsmithing is required. You remove the factory stock, seat the barreled action into the chassis, and torque down the included action screws, which most people can knock out in well under an hour with basic hand tools.

What's the difference between this 1913 version and the standard AR buffer tube Heatseeker?

The standard Heatseeker chassis uses a typical AR buffer tube for mounting an AR-style stock, while this version replaces that with a 1913 Picatinny rail interface. That opens things up to folding and adjustable stocks built around a Picatinny mount rather than being locked into a buffer tube design.
