Screwing a suppressor onto a standard-length hunting rifle usually leaves you swinging something the length of a canoe paddle through the timber. The Cascade SR fixes that. CVA built this rifle specifically for suppressed hunting, starting with a 16.5 inch barrel that keeps overall length manageable even with a can attached. And because 350 Legend burns its powder fast, the shorter tube gives up very little velocity compared to a 20 or 22 inch barrel. You keep the punch, you lose the awkward length.
The barrel comes from Bergara, CVA's sister company, and it carries the same accuracy guarantee CVA puts behind the whole Cascade line. The muzzle wears standard 5/8×24 threads with a protector installed, so most 35 caliber and larger suppressors or brakes spin right on. The action is the proven Cascade three-lug bolt with a 70 degree throw, which means a shorter lift, faster cycling, and plenty of clearance under a scope. A Picatinny rail comes on the rifle from the factory, so you can mount glass and get to the range without hunting down bases. Barrel and receiver are coated in Graphite Black Cerakote to shrug off wet mornings in the stand.
The synthetic stock is dressed in Realtree Advantac Black and includes a removable spacer to adjust length of pull, which makes this an easy rifle to share between a full-grown hunter and a smaller-framed one. The adjustable trigger breaks clean out of the box, the two-position safety sits right under your thumb, and the flush-fit detachable magazine feeds the straight-wall Legend without fuss. Whether you hunt from a saddle, a box blind, or still-hunt thick hardwoods, this is a short, quick-handling bolt gun chambered in one of the best woods cartridges going. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24, which is the most common thread pitch for rifle suppressors and brakes. Most 35 caliber, 36 caliber, and 458 caliber cans will thread straight on, and many hunters run 9mm rated suppressors that are approved for 350 Legend. Check your suppressor's caliber rating with its manufacturer before you shoot.
Not much at all, and that is the whole point of this rifle. The 350 Legend is a straight-wall cartridge that burns its powder charge quickly, so it does most of its accelerating in the first several inches of barrel. Inside typical woods hunting distances, deer will not know the difference, and you gain a rifle that stays compact with a suppressor attached.
