Description
Lancer set out to solve a real problem in the AR platform magazine world. Traditional metal magazines are heavy and clunky. Early polymer options solved the weight issue but developed a weakness where it mattered most: the feed lips. The L5AWM fixes both problems with a hybrid design that gives you the best of each material.
The Steel-Polymer Hybrid Design
The core of what makes this magazine work is the one-piece hardened steel feed lip assembly molded directly into the polymer body. Those steel feed lips won't bend, crack, or deform under the pressure of loaded rounds or from rough handling and extended storage. They're coated with PTFE to resist corrosion, so whether you leave it loaded for months or throw it in a pack with other gear, the feed lips stay reliable. The polymer body itself is impact-resistant and designed with an internal constant-curve geometry that feeds 5.56 NATO and 223 Remington ammunition smoothly thanks to an anti-tilt follower that keeps rounds properly aligned.
Grip and Handling
The FDE opaque finish comes with aggressive surface texturing molded into the polymer. This isn't just for looks. That texture gives you a confident grip, especially when things get wet or muddy. The floorplate slides off USGI-style for easy cleaning and maintenance, and the mag seats smoothly in your magwell without any unnecessary drama. Lancer stamps round count markers on the body so you can estimate remaining ammunition at a glance.
Made to Last
This magazine is manufactured in the USA and tested to withstand harsh conditions. The materials are corrosion and chemical resistant, and the design has been proven through thousands of rounds in competition, hunting, and training scenarios. At this compact 5-round capacity, it's ideal for restricted hunting seasons or precision rifle work where a shorter magazine offers better handling from a sled or bag.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the Lancer L5AWM 5-round magazine lock to my bolt on a closed bolt?
The L5AWM is designed to lock solidly in the magwell. A full 5-round load with the bolt closed may require firm seating in some rifles, which is normal and expected behavior for a magazine at full capacity. This is the same expectation you'd have with USGI metal magazines or other polymer options at max load.
Can I see how many rounds are in this magazine?
The opaque FDE finish doesn't allow visibility like translucent models, but Lancer molded round count markers on the body so you can estimate your ammunition count from the outside. If you need complete visibility, Lancer offers translucent versions of the L5AWM in 5-round capacity as well.
What makes the Lancer L5AWM different from all-polymer magazines?
The hardened steel feed lips molded into the polymer body won't bend or crack under pressure or during long-term storage. All-polymer feed lips can develop issues over time, especially if the magazine is left loaded. The steel feed lips on the L5AWM are PTFE coated for corrosion resistance and are designed to last the life of the magazine without maintenance or replacement.
Is the Lancer L5AWM made in the USA?
Yes. The L5AWM is designed, tooled, manufactured, and assembled entirely in the USA. Lancer Systems is committed to American manufacturing and maintains an AS9100D certified quality management system.
