This is the walnut and blued steel version of CVA's new Cascade Rimfire family, a scaled-down take on the centerfire Cascade that has earned a serious following among hunters. The safety and bolt release sit in the same spots as the bigger Cascades, so if you already run one of those, this makes a natural low-cost trainer. And if you don't, it stands on its own just fine as a squirrel rifle, plinker, or first bolt gun for a new shooter.
The 18 inch barrel comes threaded 1/2×28 with a protector installed, so adding a suppressor or muzzle device takes about thirty seconds. A two-piece Picatinny rail is mounted from the factory for easy optic setup, and the receiver is also drilled and tapped if you'd rather go a different route with sights. The trigger breaks right around 3 pounds, which is lighter and cleaner than most rimfires in this class, and the checkered walnut stock with satin finish gives it a traditional feel that the plastic-stocked competition can't match. Sling swivel studs come standard, and the whole rifle weighs in at a handy 5.5 pounds.
