If you've been wanting to run a red dot on your Ruger Mark series or an old P-frame pistol but didn't want to send the slide off for milling, this EGW mount is the clean way to do it. It slides into the factory rear sight dovetail, giving you a stable base for a Trijicon RMR or any optic sharing the same footprint. The whole thing is machined from 7075 aluminum and finished in a matte black hardcoat anodize, so it holds up to recoil and handling without looking bulky on the gun.
This one is made for Ruger Auto pistols: the Mark I, Mark II, Mark III, and Mark IV, plus the 22/45, and the P85, P90-95, and P97 models. It replaces the rear sight in the dovetail, so there's no drilling or tapping involved. Worth noting up front, this mount is not meant for the optics-ready models, and it won't work with the RMRcc or the Ruger P89. If you've got one of the covered guns, though, it's about as straightforward an install as you'll find.
Beyond the Trijicon RMR and SRO, this mount shares a footprint with a wide range of popular optics. That includes the Holosun 407C and 507C family along with their X2 versions, and Swampfox Kingslayer, Liberty, and Justice dots. So if you ever swap optics down the road, you're not locked into a single brand.
Setup is simple. You pull the factory rear sight, slide the mount into the dovetail from left to right with the muzzle facing forward, and the progressive taper helps it seat snug. From there you add a touch of blue Loctite to the included screws, set your optic, and torque to spec. Overall length runs 1.780 inches with a 1.1 inch width, so it keeps a low, trim profile. Trijicon does recommend running a sealing plate under RMR optics to keep moisture out, which is good practice on any direct-mount red dot.
